It’s chilly in the bedroom of my new apartment. I’m in a corner unit, and two of the walls face outside elements. My rent includes all utilities, and we are on the honor system not to waste them. I have the thermostat on the central heat/ac set to 71F or 21.7C. It’s freezing outside, and I’m a little cold, but I can stand it. I don’t think I can stand turning the heat any lower.
Do you keep your place warmer or colder than mine?
I don’t know what temperature my apartment is at right now, but I have to wear my hoodie to stay comfortable in it right now. I can deal with a little bit of a chill in my apartment, but I run the air conditioner pretty high all summer long.
We keep ours at 68f/20c. Give or take. It fluctuates a lot from room to room at the moment because the windows are super leaky. Going to fix that today, hopefully .
It’s faaacking freezing in my house-- the heater’s on the fritz, so the temp is clocking in at around 68F, (18ish C) and probably around 64F in my room at the moment.
For some reason, it’s always colder in my room than other areas of the house .
SO likes to keep the place cold throughout the year as he runs hot. I have yet to adjust and am too cold almost always. I usually like to bundle up so he can be cool and comfy. Sometimes if it’s sunny out, I will go sit in the sun or in my car for a while.
I have these fuzzy sock/slipper things which really help to keep me warm. I highly suggest something warm for your feet.
The building I’m in is owned by the Retired Teachers Association, a nonprofit organization. I guess it’s fitting that I’m here as my mom was a public school teacher for 32 years and never had a lot of money. The income limit to live here is $38,000 a year, but I don’t know what the minimum income is. I qualified with $22,680.
Thanks @TheFountainPen. I like being warm too, but I’m trying to respect the Honor System here not to waste heat and keep the utility bill down. Utilities are included in my rent which is $575 a month. The building is old and not well insulated, but it’s a clean and decent place to live. I’m lucky I qualified to live here. I did work as a substitute teacher for a year just to survive after I lost my job in banking.
