Mine would cost whatever money I would have earned during all those years lost with recovery, + whatever my family has had to spend for supporting my sorry arse all this time + moral damages. At least $200k and counting (I am not yet recovered).

It is not. I went psychotic in June 2014. 2 more years of mental sanity and I would have pocketed French nationality. Now that prospect is gone, I am back to my poor country Romania. Furthermore, my gross salary was already over $50k a year and expected to increase. It’s been more than 3 years since I am unemployed. Add to this the cost of a 2 week hospitalization not covered by insurance, various expenses with new clothes, as meds made me gain a lot of weight, AND moral damages because I have severed friendships, lost opportunities for romantic relationships and inflicted extreme sadness to my family.

Insurance companies are smart, I don’t think schizophrenia is covered.

There is no “if” in life.
You mostly only get what you are able to earn de facto.
For me,
I feel no sum of money can ever be adequate compensation for my schizophrenia.
Romania and French nationality is just like Malaysia and Singapore nationality?
That’s a big difference. Many of us here tried to become Singaporean.

Yes, it would have been a nice “upgrade”. In France they have better quality of life and social welfare than Romania. My plan was to become a French citizen, and later I would have brought my aging parents to live with me there. Now the plan is ruined…
But if I recover completely, which is very hard, maybe I can go back to France 
I still have a few friends there.

Yes, I can speak a decent French too. I have spent 3 and a half years in France, after all. But my Japanese knowledge is very limited.

It would depend on the severity of the episode. A small episode might be $10,000, but a larger episode might be $85,000. It’s really futile to try to put a price on a break with reality. It’s not a tradable commodity.
I create my own value at work. I don’t subscribe to the cult of victimhood.
It is strange for an Asian like me to learn European language. 
I would love to improve my existing languages.
If it is possible, I prefer to learn another South East Asian language.
Romania is not a bad place, it is still in Europe.
