I am on 6mg risperidone but I want to try 5mg or 4.5mg. The Dr okd me but never go lower than 3mg as thats the dose at which I don’t have sz symptoms. The reason I doubled the dose is anger issues and hypersexuality which I wonder if they are hypomania. The reason I think it might work is that I still had some anger issues on 6mg but they went away a few months ago on their own. I wonder if these will return if I lower my dose.
I would like to have less meds as well, but every attempt I have made to lower has failed.
I’ve just accepted the max dose for now
I think you’re on 12mg invega? That’s equivalent to my 6mg risperidone.
Yes I am.
I hope it works out for you. It’s a bit of a gamble.
I remember when I was on 3mg I kept fighting with family and people on this forum, I even got suspended a few times. But I didn’t have sz symptoms, no delusions or hallucinations.
Did you get yourself on a waiting list for a psychiatrist yet?
No but my family Dr can lower or increase my dose.
Also I stopped the ldopa as it was making me unstable.
Im on 15 abilify. Trying to reduce meds now on January. Atm my pdoc doesn’t want to (he knows i still smoke hash).
I think your anger would probably return if you lowered your meds. I know when I got sick I was angry all the time. When I got on meds the anger went away but every time I quit taking meds the anger came back full force which is one of the reasons I always take my meds now.
Day 1 of 5mg no nightmares no anger issues yet. Tonight I will try 4.5mg down from 6mg. My dr allowed me to go down to 3mg on my own.
You really need to see a psychiatrist @anon67051439
A family GP is not sufficient
Your case is pretty complex
its my pdoc who allowed me to go back down on 3mg on my own. I didn’t have sz symptoms on 3mg.
Bro… I’m hoping the best for you.
Are you worried about psychosis aswell?
i am not going off meds, I was on 3mg before for like 2yrs with no sz symptoms. I just had anger issues but they seem to have went away on their own.
No I’m speaking in generalities
You really ought to be seeing a psychiatrist not a GP
I am on 4.5mg risperidone now. I just foundout 6mg blocks 79% dopamine while 4mg blocks 73%. That sucks as that means the improvement in negative symptoms are almost none but also that’s why I don’t have symptoms. I am afraid of going lower as I read all APs except Clozapine show therapeutic effects at 70% dopamine blockade. 3mg blocks 70% dopamine. I want to find the min dose that get rid of my symptoms if they come back while lowering it.
Are you tinkering with your meds on your own @anon67051439?
It’s not a good idea if you are.
It’s a good way to become unstable
My pdoc allowed me to go down to 3mg on my own.
Oh ok, my apologies
Actually I want to go down to 3mg of Risperdal from 4mg while at the same time increasing the Abilify to 5mg
