I have a weak singing voice and can’t carry a tune but it’d be nice to know how. Do you think I should get instructions from a book on singing? I want to sing along with my guitar and mandolin.
Can you match your voice to the pitch? If not, if you’re tone deaf, no lessons will help
But if you can match pitch, voice lessons could help you
Join a community choir i did choir in school it was fun
I did community theater and sang in a choir for a bit. I had a pretty good voice teacher but I was always clumsy at reading music and have difficulty with complex rhythms.
Maybe a music graduate student could offer you inexpensive lessons even by Zoom. These days I just sing on Smule or record stuff on my computer.
I am happy that my voice is still in reasonable shape even though I am now a junior senior citizen at 55.
Junior senior? That’s funny! I turn 53 this month.
Yeah I am going to check out the billiards tables at our senior center next week lol
Happy cakeday! 1515
I also want to learn how to sing!
The way I’m teaching myself is just to listen to myself sing and try to fine tune it if it sounds unpleasant to me!
I like having one ear phone in my left ear and the other ear open so then I can listen to a song on Spotify but also listen to myself.
I wish I lived in my own place.
I rarely get the chance to sing…
Good luck and have fun Jinx
Yeah, that’s how I pretty much started, @Zoe! When I first started buying popular music albums and listening to the radio, I would try to imitate the classic hard rock and hair metal singers that were really big at the time. But, it seems I could only do it under my breath, at best.
Ive been practising singing for years… Its pretty handy when you play any instrument and get into music theory. Nevertheless, my singing sucks, always sucked and I never improved.
I think its one of those things you get from birth…
I can’t sing for ■■■■ but auditioned for West Side Story play in college and sang for it on stage. Those poor people.
I was in choir throughout college. I won’t go into what it was, but it required skill and didn’t use any musical instruments.
