I want to get off my meds, help

I want to quit my meds but I got an Abilify shot yesterday because my doctor wanted me to

What to do???

If you really want to get off medication then you need to act like a normal person outside. Every person in the world have weird thoughts and beliefs at some point in their life and may be often but why they not in mental hospital? Because they not act on it. They not allow their thoughts and feelings to go out of control. You too do the same. Do your best to act normal outside. If you get weird thoughts, delusions etc then not believe in it and when you not believe in it you no longer talk about it to others. If get such thoughts instantly put off those thoughts.

I’m trying to act normal you know

Then nothing to worry about. Your doctor will release you from hospital soon.

Sigh do you realise that I can’t go off my medicatiob

You can but for now take medicine and show to yourself and the world that you can remain normal. This requires practice. If you stop medicine abruptly it itself can create much more intense delusions due to the withdrawal effects so need to slowly taper off which requires time and effort.

I won’t become delusional ive alreay tried quitting meds abruptly and nothing happened

As a first step doctor will replace shots with pills and then based on your progress they will reduce the dose and slowly taper off fully but for this you need to show them your normal in your behavior, talking etc.

I’m not even psychotic now and im on the shots its ■■■■■■■ ridiculous man

Its the problem of mental hospital we can’t resist it. But they will stop shots based on your new normal behavior.

Bruh the doc said i have to be on them for 2 years because i cant quit meds

unfortuntaely , like me , with your diagnosis, it is standard procedure to be on the anitpsychotic for two years, its a good thing your not on them for life at least,

it requires two years for the brain to recover, minimal. with the aid of the antipsychotic

good luck @Crystal-Cotton

I think you are showing psychotic behaviors there which might be forcing them to stay there for longer. When they talk with you never hint of any delusional thoughts, paranoia etc act fully like a normal person. Also when they give shots not resist it as resisting is another form of psychotic feature in their eyes.

They gave you the meds because you clearly needed them.

You need to accept the help and stop being so dramatic.

Everyone is on your side and you’re just making a bad situation worse.

i am not showing any psychotic behaviors
and i didnt resist but i hate it

they arent helping me all the meds do is kill my brain cells

well they said minimum is two years but preferably more (idk why??)
and antipsychotics kill braincells

APs not cause much damage especially if the duration and dose is less so not worry about it. All you have to do is make a conscious effort to remain normal outside.

well they placed me on the max dose of the shot so theres that
and im acting normal already

yehhh they arent perfect, but being off the antipsychotic and the potential consequences are worst. psychosis, delusions included damage your brain and can put you in a more distressing state than if you were on the antipsychotic.

idk either,
