I want off clozapine

Its giving me side effects that are nearly unmanageable. I have terrible urinary incontinence. Often I wet the bed. I always have to wear a diaper and pad. It’s so gross. I hate it.

Can you try adjusting the dose? :palm_tree::palm_tree::palm_tree:

Yes when I was on clozapine I wet the bed once in hospital too. And drooled a lot and slept almost all day. After eight months I requested to switch to another med so was put on risperidone which was much better!

The taking off of clozapine nearly killed me though, as my pdoc at the time stupidly took me off clozapine cold turkey and started me suddenly on risperidone. I had a serious breakdown and had to go into hospital (but soon got better within a month).

My pdoc won’t agree to it

I’m sorry to hear that. Did he/she say why?

I had the same experience with it and eventually relapsed

I haven’t asked yet but I’m certain he won’t agree

I’m with you, clozapine gives me night time incontinence. I also get drooling and extreme tiredness.

My pdoc refused to take me of clozapine until a cardiologist told him I had to do it because of tachycardia. I struggled to sleep for months because of withdrawl symptoms. Now I take clozapine as a prn. Much better.

What makes you so sure he won’t let you?

Can’t you get a different doctor?

It seems to be that other the horrible side effects it works.

There would be too long a wait period

I know that Clozapine is packed with side effects because I was on it 25 years ago. But it works the best for people whom are not responding to most of the other antipsychotics.
