I’ve given up

My doctor doesn’t want to reduce my 4mg risperidone dose.
At first she agreed to start reducing my dose slowly from 4 mg to 3.75mg but she made it very difficult for me by prescribing multiple doses so that my insurance company would reject the order.
And that’s exactly what my insurance company did, they denied me the lowered dose.
I didn’t want to bother fighting with my insurance company so now I’m back on my usual dose of 4mg.
It’s so frustrating to know that my doctor is not cooperating with me.
Oh well, I give up.

Weren’t you on 3mg before and it didn’t workout?

Are you still on Depakote? I remember you said it caused issues.

Yeah I’m still on Depakote and it’s keeping me very stable for a while now.

Are pill crushers and an extremely accurate scale to portion the powder an option? Not sure if it affects the release. Consult a medical professional before taking what could be shite advice.

That really sucks. Insurance companies shouldn’t be able to refuse drs orders

When I was attempting to reduce Invega, I had to take 1 day 9 mg, the other 12 mg and alternate.

Didn’t work out, but I think it’s strange the insurance has a say. It should be the pdoc who decides in consultation with the patient. They are the experts. But I guess it’s different there.

didn’t you want off the risperdal because of sexual side effects? I was suicidal on risperdal because I couldn’t have a gf. try prolixin generic…fluphenazine…wonder drug sexually and I lost all my extra weight on this med.

My insurance was being a dick about the way she prescribed mine too last time. My meds nurse fought with the insurance company for me and managed to get them to cover it. But my pdoc put me on 2 mg tabs now and says the insurance company will like that better than 2 or 3 1 mg tabs.
