I’ve debated on

Going to church a few times… my parents didn’t take us to church growing up, but I was in youth group… and went to church with friends…
what all goes into going to church?
Like do you have to get baptized if you’re gonna go?

I don’t think it has any requirement tbh.

I mean the one my parents are part of, I’d LOVE to go back there but there’s people there that make me too anxious

Apart from that, they are very accepting.

:frowning:

So sometimes I’ve felt like I’m missing out.

I don’t believe there’s a baptism requirement. At least not for the Protestant denominations.

Even for Catholic mass everyone is invited, but you have to be baptized Catholic to take part in communion.

Just show up and listen to the sermon, and sing the songs if you feel like it.

That’s too bad you can’t go cause some of them make you anxious…
I like the idea of going to church but it also makes me anxious (I had religious delusions) so I’m worried those will pop up…

So I’m like super ignorant about all the different kinds… like how do you find which one is right for you? Protestant, Lutheran, catholic, etc…

My advice would be to Google whichever one you’re interested in and read their Wikipedia page.

See what church doctrine vibes more with your beliefs.

I personally think its very good to explore religion to see if it is for you or not. I’m not a huge fan of the Bible but I’m intrigued by there maybe being a God.

But you’ve got to feel comfortable with doing that. If you fear it may make your mental health worse than I don’t think it’s a good idea.

My two cents hehe.

Got ya!

I consider myself a very lazy Christian, so please feel free to PM me about any questions.

I’m worried this topic will be locked soon because of the religion rule.

Cheers!

Yeah. I like to think I’m agnostic, so it intrigues me as well…
It’s hard for me to read the Bible, but I haven’t tried in almost a year… So it’s worth a shot maybe…
Maybe I’ll wait longer to try and go to church…

Religion and mental illness aren’t opposed and faith can be handy but we need to avoid issues which affect our community. Religion really is a big one as many folk encounter spiritual concerns with psychosis.

Things like proselytizing aren’t welcome here for obvious reasons. I don’t think this is too bad but please keep things on topic. We treat this issue just the same as things like drugs and alcohol for example. Please keep things in a recovery framework. Not sure that is possible but keep cool.

Ah you can close it if you want… I’m afraid by morning here it’ll have taken a wrong turn lol

No worries. You did things the right way without going overboard and that is appreciated. Good luck in your travels.
