I haven’t used my PC in about 9 months. But after all the hoopla in the news I downloaded and installed all the updates. So that’s one less thing to worry about I guess. It took a few hours to update everything.
I have an older system (windows vista SP2) and I don’t know if Microsoft will provide a security patch.
Oh well, I still have my Avast antivirus, maybe it will protect me.
I think Microsoft are pushing a patch for the older systems too. At least in this case.
Also, I don’t open dubious emails
i don’t think i’ll ever get a virus, even if my pc is outdated and has no virus protection.
Tell me your IP address and we’ll see about that @sirBoring
Make sure you have a backup. That way when they hold your data ransom, you can say FU, wipe your drive and start over.
am I missing something?
I keep mine up to date, but I really don’t do a whole lot online
A bunch of computers at major companies, multiple UK hospitals, some UK fedex offices, etc got hit with ransom ware because they did not run certain security updates. Ransom ware encrypts the files and the hackers demand $ for the decrypt key.
