I thought I'd have to go inpatient

I’ve really been struggling for the last week. When things go bad for me I have “occult” issues.

Everything has settled down now. I’m fine.

I’m actually seeing my psychiatrist in just over a week. So I’ll mention the blip to them.

I really thought I’d have to ask to go into hospital :hospital:. I haven’t been to hospital for 10 years, that’s how serious it was.

I was also fearful that going to hospital would solve nothing.

Here it’s getting harder and harder to be accepted in hospital. Even when you’re psychotic.

Hopefully things settle down even further for you.

Keep going @everhopeful !

I don’t know if i can ask this but how do you reconcile occultism and being an atheist out of interest?

I am mostly atheist yet supernatural occult movies scare me, so I must believe it deep down, I reckon.

It is probably my conditioning and having lots and lots of nightmares as a child and how that has seeped into my unconcious.

I just don’t believe in god. I don’t believe in a head honcho. That’s the definition of atheism.

Not really.

Not believing in head honcho yet believing in spirits and other deities is contradictory. If there is no ‘boss’ is one thing, but to believe in others but that isn’t the deifinition of atheism.

With sz it is possible that the phenomena of the unknown is mixed up with these occultist beliefs as a way to cope with the unknown, like unexplainable hallucinations (like the 6th sense one you previously mentioned.)

Could it be that the scientific definition of the hallucination could be grasped more definitely rather than spiral into these occultist thoughts you have been having?

I only mean to suggest that you could help yourself by grounding yourself with the empirical definition you provided yourself only a few days ago.

Stick with the science @everhopeful and you’ll be fine!

I don’t believe in other deities. I don’t believe in any .

From Miriam Webster

The meaning of ATHEIST is a person who does not believe in the existence of a god or any gods

That’s me. I’m not sure why/how you’re arguing with that.

I’m sorry.

It was my understanding of occultism that was flawed.

I thought occultism was underpinned by belief in a god or gods.

Apparently, animism, energy manipulation, psychological and cognitive biases, and cultural and historical (folklore) mean that occultism beliefs doesn’t predicate a need for a god/s.

So energies and their ilk seem to be your main problem at the moment @everhopeful ?

I’m glad that you’re feeling better.

Many therapists suggest to their patients to try to look back over the past week to try to identify triggers. Generally speaking, I think that’s helpful, but I wouldn’t analyze things too much because you may go right back to those negative feelings.

Again, I’m glad that you’re feeling better, and I’m also glad that you’re able to express your feelings.

Hope things settle down for you

Sucks when you notice that things are unsteady

Try not to be down. Treat yourself to something to try and cheer yourself up!
