I think I'm going to start skipping lunch

My father in law is diabetic , he eats a set menu,
Breakfast
Lunch
Dinner
Supper
Small, bland meals, no sugary crap
He is 75yrs injects with insulin for many years as he didn’t take his condition seriously at first

Its a wake up call for me this discussion because im diabetic and still eat too much crap, ugh, i have annual review and bloods done next week

Im working so so hard on fixing my diet and adding in exercise. I wish it wasnt so hard. Growing up my parents fed me a lot of carbs, sugar, fats, etc. So i dont even know what a healthy diet looks like right now but im working on it.

@Grookey Healthy meals eg.

Fish, potatoes veg
Chicken grilled or oven done with potatoes or rice , vegetables

Try to have small plate size
and weigh everything, follow guidelines on portion size

Basically cut out adding salt, sugar, cooking oil or just use sparingly

Look out for hidden fats and sugars in sauces etc

So it’s normal for your sugar to spike after each meal. In diabetics it stays too high for too long and doesn’t come down. If it gets too high after three hours from a meal, my recommendation is to drink a lot of water to flush the sugar out and exercise of some kind. It should go down to normal again.

As a diabetic you don’t want to skip meals. It avoids spikes, going too low, eating a big meal, going too high. I would concentrate on diet, and dividing three meals into six, eating a little bit every three hours. You probably already know this. Hope you’ll be okay.

I have been surprised at how much illness, stress, emotions like anger, will trigger the pancreas to release more glucose into your system. Any kind of stress really triggers higher sugar levels. It’s just important to discover why your sugars are high and to avoid those triggers. In essence, food isn’t the only thing that raises your sugar.

Hope this helps @Bowens
