Yes, ECT did NOT go well for me.

Constant worrying about other people everyday when they don’t give ■■■■. There’s no med to get rid of anger.not being able to decipher what’s real or not.endless pills.

Ain’t nobody care about you.then why curse at me?

I have seen ECT do a lot of good before. I was in a private mental hospital in Dallas. There was this guy who had tried to kill himself by hanging himself with a coat hanger. They kept him tied down in bed in restraints for about three or four months. Then they gave him ECT, and he was a lot better. I think they mostly give it as a final resort to depression that will not yield to treatment, though I did come across a person on this site who I think was getting it regularly as treatment for her schizophrenia.

I asked my doctor if I could get ECT. He made a note of it on my file and said “sorry that things are so bad for you right now”

I doubt I will get it though, it is usually a last resort. It makes me mad since I’ve tried at least 20 different types of medications and they still want to test more on me. So maybe I’ll ask again after they make me take more new medication and that doesn’t work…

@valiumprincess - Have you tried clozapine? ECT is not all it’s cracked up to be - in my experience.

I dunno but I did post an article on the topic over in the news section.

I haven’t tried it yet but I’m going to ask about it if the new medication I’m on now doesn’t work.

Having ECT treatments I can say was probably one of the very biggest mistakes of my life. The fact that I even have a life afterwards is amazing. I do not recommend anyone doing it. Our brains are not something to be played around with. You will feel like a mess after. You will never be the same again and that is probably not a good thing.
