I think I’m on too much medication, might ask my pdoc

Currently I take 1200mg lithium, 80mg Geodon, 50mg Loxapine, and 150mg Welbutrin XL, 5mg of Ambien, 2mg of benztropine, 80mg of Ingrezza, 200mg Modafinil, 0.25mg Klonopin, Pantroprazole for GERD. I feel like that’s too many meds and I feel over medicated. I have a hard time getting up in the mornings because I feel so sedated from my meds I take at night. I have an appointment with my pdoc Thursday and I might ask if we can reduce some of my meds. Do you guys think I’m on too much?

Sounds like an awful lot to me. They prescribed them for a reason though. I guess I would ask my doc if it’s possible to lower the dose or cut a couple out. I’m on 10 medications myself but the only AP’s are Seroquel and an Invega shot. I take metformin and maunjaro for diabetes and each of the rest are for different things. Sounds like most of your medications are necessary and can’t be stopped.

That does sound an awful lot I could not cope with it.

Back in my 20’s doctors in america had me on over 25 pills a day.

When I came back to UK I was adamant to reducing the majority and I have but it does take along time so be prepared for that. Especially with benzos. I think it tooo me about 2 years to slowly come off benzos.

Not for me to say

I have cut the number of pills down a lot over the years

Feel ya… I take too many pills too. I’m starting to feel emotionless :no_mouth:

You take way more…idk how you would feel on all of that

Yes, it’s a lot of meds @Hanna_Foxx but maybe you need them in order to function properly
I take more meds than that but I do realize that they all are stitching me together
Speak with your doctor over your concerns
Good luck with everything

Edit: There is a difference between being on a lot of the right meds and being on a lot of the wrong meds

Yeah the meds work for me for the most part other than being sedated in the mornings. My symptoms are minimal. I just feel like I’m on so many pills

I’m on Cobenfy 100/20 mg, Zyprexa 20 mg, and Synthroid 75 mcg. I also take the smallest dose of Mounjaro. I used to be on a lot more meds but over time my pdoc took me off some. That med list you wrote is long, but if you can function on them then maybe you need them all. Idk…it just seems like a lot.

I’m on five meds , metformin for diabetes, clopixol and diazapam for mh, blood pressure low dose, and statin low dose.
I’ve a annual review next week so fingers crossed i can remain on the same doses.
I’ve always been reluctant to take meds, i remember when i was first dx with schizophrenia i flat out didn’t take meds regularly i hated taking them. In hindsight not the best thing to do

What dose of pantoprazole do you take? I am on 80 mg and it’s still not enough.

That does seem like a lot. If you’re specifically looking for a way to be less drowsy, the ambien might be the first one to try dialing back on, if your doctor is okay with it. In my experience they are usually very in favor of lowering controlled substances when someone asks.

It’s a lot and I understand why you wanna talk to your doctor about it. I’m actually on quite a bit more than that, but I need all of them.

It’s good to talk to your doctor and see if any changes can be made or if they feel they’re all necessary. Some people simply need a lot of meds, unfortunately but I agree with @Ninjastar that The sleeping med would be the first one to try to cut since you’re so groggy anyway

I’ve already cut the ambien back from 10mg to 5mg. They don’t make a lower dose and the pills are too tiny to cut in half. I can’t sleep at all without ambien I am fully reliant on it

I’m gonna ask if I can lower my Loxapine dose since that’s super sedating and it’s also caused my TD

Gotcha. Yeah. Your pdoc might also have a better idea on which med to try dialing down first.

I appreciate your input though! I see my Pdoc on Thursday and I’m gonna bring all this up to her
