I still feel pretty stuck

I’m desperately trying to get a mortgage so I can live slightly more comfortable than paying rent each month but I feel like I never will. I think since my car accident especially I am far too disabled to keep working. I had a while off while in the hospital and went back today and I feel right back down in the dumps. I just can’t seem to handle it. It feels physically and mentally draining. When I get tired now I get neurological symptoms. When I’m stressed too. And work is doing that to me. Plus the pain is too much. If I quit my job I’ll never be able to move again. I’ll never get a mortgage. I’ll never be able to move closer to my fiance.

Can your fiancé help you financially or can you move in with him?

No unfortunately. He’s also disabled and unemployed. He has an autistic son who hates dogs and I won’t rehome my dogs, so we live separately.

My husband and I are both disabled and on SSDI. We also have a mortgage and own our own home

That’s good. I only get $965 in SSDI. That alone won’t qualify me for any mortgage

I only get $700. But adding my husband’s SSDI with mine qualifies us

How’s your credit?

My score is decent. I qualified for a loan except they wanted $5k down because my income is lower

There’s programs out there for first time owners, $0 down

Ok. Well, if it’s something you really want, don’t give up. It may not happen as fast as you want, but it may still happen

Yeah don’t give up @Froge , I agree with @LilyoftheValley that something good will come along.

Being on benefits and having this dang illness can make it challenging to climb the ladder but nothing is impossible.

Take care.

Today at lunch my mother pointed out a project in the making
Apparently Elon musk is creating tiny houses with everything that you need for like 10,000 dollars
So maybe if you find an empty lot it could be more affordable

don’t over think living on disability if you have to…I can’t work…yes, I rent…it sucks…but at least the land lord takes care of things that go wrong in the house.
