Good luck, @Zoe ! I hope the new schedule feels better for you!
Good luck @Zoe . I hope that you are able to rearrange your sleeping schedule without too much trouble.
yea…i think it aint too bad cos i can still hang round with ppl from 4pm into night on days off.
it is not like it is absolutely opposite sleep
I had a night shift job once, it was a 6 month contract position building Cisco routers. The job was 4 days a week, 12 hour shifts, 8pm to 8am, and I loved it. It’s more peaceful at night. The people that worked with me seemed to be so much more chill than the daytime people. Plus during the night shift there was only 1 manager in the entire factory and he was busy doing stuff so it was a relaxed environment. All the other managers worked the day shift.
Once you readjust yourself to staying up at night and sleeping during the day you should be fine.
Good luck with it!
yea this is what i am hoping…i asked my supervisor if i can listen to music she said i can!!
how u been?
Best of luck with it all, I hope it works out for you.
I’m doing okay, a little bored. I was suppose to work today but someone took the Tuesday shift before I had a chance to reserve it so I was stuck with the Wednesday shift instead, I work again on Friday.
My mom gave me a small grocery shopping list today so I did that, otherwise just hanging out on this website and watching TV.
My laptop is currently downloading Windows 11, that should be done shortly. I’m eager to check it out and play around with it.
cool, how many hours do you roughly wrk per week?
I am glad you got it. Good for you. I hope the new hours suit you better.
yes i think they will
I used to do 4 PM to 12:30 AM when I worked as a valet driver at a casino many years ago. It was a great shift.
I wish I would have stayed on my 12:30 PM to 9 PM shift when I worked at the call center. After 5 PM everything was totally chill. I found out real quickly that working the day shift sucked.
Best of luck. Hope you like your new shift.
I used to work at Walmart from 4pm until 1am and I started staying up until 5am and sleeping in until 3pm. I liked it because the night was so peaceful.
thanks guys
your stories are encouraging to hear
It varies based on how busy they are. Some days I have 80 packages to deliver, other days it’s only 30 or 40. I only work part time, I am booked for 16 hours a week, but my shifts never last the full 8 hours. I have an efficiency rating of around 140% so I usually finish delivering all the packages much sooner than the time I am allotted. I guess on average I work 10-12 hours a week. They hired me for part time only so I am not allowed more than 3 shifts/week. There are certain circumstances that would allow me to work 5 days/week but definitely no more than 40 hours/week unless a manager requests it because then they have to pay overtime.
I get paid quite a bit more than minimum wage so even though my hours are not a lot I make enough money to get by, much better than disability alone. Plus I make a little extra money doing freelance computer technician work each month too. All in all I am doing okay.
that is cool that you get more than minimum pay.
i also get more than minimum pay, but only barely.
i do hope the pay goes up here at some point
I don’t know how they judge your work performance, but at my work everything is recorded through an Android smartphone and this other Android device called a Zebra. That is how they track my performance and know my efficiency rating. I got a 5% raise after 5 months because I do a good job. I’m sure if you prove to be a good worker with a positive attitude you’ll get a pay raise too at some point.
congratulations on the pay rise
hm, I think in my company the way it works is that we either all get a pay rise, all those with my job title, or none of us do
i mean i could ask them but scared to cos it feels awkward lol
I don’t think I would like that. You could work your ass off and another person could be a slacker and yet you both get treated the same, that doesn’t seem fair. The incentive to work hard and do your best is missing.
The jobs I’ve worked, the people that have worked there for longer made more, and even though we had the same job different people made different amounts for different reasons. One company had reviews every 3 months and gave you a raise based on how well you did. My raise was usually $0.25/hour for me, but sometimes $0.50/hour.
At my job they require a minimum efficiency rating of 95%, I do way better than that so I got a raise, but there were others with efficiency ratings of around 60% and they were told they are not company material. I think you should be judged on how you do as an individual, not as a group where everyone gets a raise or no one does, doesn’t seem fair to me.
i used to work nights, it sucked trying to sleep during the day, but i always thought the night shift employees had more freedom and less oversight from management. also there are some interesting people who work nights and hide their face during the day. lots of interesting characters i worked with and almost all were on the night shift. but i think i read you wanted to be away from people, but still good luck on nights.
