Im on a night schedule, so I sleep during the day and am awake at night. Its really nice I like it a lot.
Reminds me of the time I was a night shift worker at the grocery store unloading trucks lol nice peaceful jam out to some tunes and crush cardboard in the crusher
Maybe not that last part. Im making a blackjack game in Ruby, gonna make it so the dealer can decide to cheat and you can count cards (static deck) with multiple players so its gonna be a fun project lol
I had a nightshift job about 20 years ago. It was 4 days a week, 12 hour shifts. 8pm to 8am. It was a 6 month contract position then it was over. I enjoyed it then because everything seemed more peaceful at night. It was a production line building Cisco routers, and I had 2 responsibilities. My first responsibility was to load a machine with microchips. The second responsibility was to get parts from the warehouse so other workers could make repairs to defective routers.
At my current job I recently changed my hours. My shifts are now scheduled for 1pm-9pm (afternoon/evening) shift. But my job doesn’t have guaranteed hours. I deliver packages to peoples houses and businesses that they ordered online. How many hours I work depends on how many packages I have to deliver in a given shift. On average my shifts are 5-7 hours, although they have been shorter or longer on occasion.
@Headspark 12 hour shifts is a lot, but I feel like if it was at night I could do it. Like autopilot you know, at least once you get the job down. I did 10 hours, 10 pm to 8 am three nights a week so just under full time, the ■■■■■■■■. But I got paid ok and liked it
Hows the package job in the afternoon shift going?
Sorry daze I am not working. I say night shift to mean up during the night hours. Tbh I probably shouldn’t be saying it as it gives the impression I am working when I am not.
Yeah, it was a pretty easy job, most of the time I just sat around surfing the internet, hanging out and drinking coffee. Quite often there were parts they needed that we had to order from a different plant so we couldn’t proceed with production, or systems would break down that couldn’t be fixed in the middle of the night so the day shift did a lot more work than us. There was only 1 manager on the night shift and it was a huge facility so he was too busy to monitor anyone, we never saw him except very occasionally. They also had a second production line building Nokia cellphones but I wasn’t part of that.
I’m really enjoying it. I like it better than the morning shift. I don’t have to set my alarm to get up, I can wake up naturally around 8-9am, have breakfast, shower, relax and watch TV or surf the net for a bit, then go to work. Plus at 1pm in the afternoon there is no rush hour traffic on the way to work.
