I spent 4 days with no television or internet!

i mean it was working i just didn’t log on. it’s such a habit to come online each day, but i enjoyed not being online the first 3 days, but by today i got tired of my folks company. anyways i’ve been doing chores, and applying for jobs, and working out, and reading my herbal medicine books. today is day 12 without a smoke, im still not sleeping through the night and waking up very early on like 6 or sometimes 5 hours sleep. anyways im trying to find the happy medium between a little online time, and not completely wasting my day looking at food porn all day.

Good for you. A lot of sources say that screens stress people out. Especially internet since you often have a active role scrolling, navigating and interacting. Tv is not that bad since it gives us a much more passive role, but some programs can be stressing. Especially if they cut scenes 3 times in every second if you know what I mean.

I’m trying to do what you do. Find a good and firm middle ground where I control my screen habits and not the other way around.

I got my computer set up so I only have acsess 9 out of 24 hours each day split into 3 periods. That helps a lot. Also I’m trying to stay away from the computer if I don’t have anything concrete to do.(I write down whenever I got something that needs to be done on paper) Like for instance if I don’t feel like participating in this forum and I otherwise have nothing else that is of importance I just try to do something else.

Also I only watch TV when I really feel like it. I think I feel even more lonely when I watch people I can’t interact with, so I try to limit it and be concious about my feelings towards it. Instead I use my radio a bit and try to do some reading every now and then. I did a 500 piece puzzle a couple of weeks ago. That was actually quite relaxing and the time went fast. Had the radio on in the background.

I got 3 weeks of vacation in front of me. Now I almost regret it because it means more time to kill. But the trick is to just get out the door and go somewhere else. I go crazy if I stay too much at home.

I go nuts when the power goes down and I don’t have TV and Internet for a couple hours. 4 days is a long time. Sometimes I take a break from it but I don’t have much else to do when I am not at work.

I try and do more during my day outside my flat to keep my self active and stimulated, i would go bonkers staring at a screen all day (no offense)

and when i am home i don’t watch tv, just mess about on my desktop computer and radio equipment.
