I quit i quit i did it

I did it haven’t had a cigarette in two weeks. I have tried several times to quit and failed. I honestly never thought I would give it up. The final straw came when my blood pressure just keeps getting higher. I was getting scared I was gonna have a heart attack. I actually think i’m gonna make it here. I’m hope I don’t gain weight. I have had some craving for sweets which I read can happen. The past couple of days I have been walking for over an hour a day.about 80 percent of us with schiz smoke. It has to be harder for us to quit than the rest of the population but I believe it can be done if you really want to do it.

wow, congratulations !! did it cold turkey huh? that is commendable…I had to use the nicotine gum and that was a bear to get off of so good for you doing it straight out. I still crave them you know…it never quite goes away. be careful.

yes I did it cold turkey. I went from a pack to 2-3 cigarettes a day until I finally quit for good. the cravings are not as bad anymore I still have them. I feel like my body is missing a drug that used to be in my system. I am talking about the nicotine. I am also looking forward to saving money.

Wow. Impressive effort and you should be congratulated!

I got off of it on champix…best thing I ever did for my health and that includes mental! Well done you!

Still years later I see someone smoke on tv or movie and I’m like I’d like a smoke! I won’t do it though because I know I’d be an addict again!

Stay strong! You have done so well!

Great job! It is disgusting how smoking targets vulnerable populations. Not that I know much about it, but fb says smoking targets the mentally ill. All my Facebook adds are for education related things it is so annoying I do not wanna do online nursing school$

Congrats @anon12381882 on being smoke free. It’s hard for a normal person to quit smoking, let alone a schizophrenic. Good stuff.

2 weeks breaks the back of smoking. I can remember how I felt when I craved the nicotine and don’t ever want to go back to it and that was back in 2004. I never want to be a slave to that stinky crap ever again.

It will take awhile to get back taste and smell like before and you may find that the odour disgusts you in future. It certainly does me. I can smell a cigarette at 20 metres.

Well done, don’t go back now!

I smoked two packs of cigarettes a day for seven years until I went to nursing school. Those nursing students put a lot of pressure on me to quit, so, I did. Or, I quit breathing the smoke into my lungs anyway. What I did was puff on them all my life until I was 48 years old. Then my 28 year old son challenged me to quit. He told me that he would quit if I would. I couldn’t turn down that offer, so, I quit then and never looked back.

Good for you, @anon12381882! Congratulations!
