I like black metal. First wave black metal: Bathory, Venom, Merciful Fate, Celtic Frost etc.
And second wave: Mayhem, Darkthrone, Burzum, Gorgoroth etc.

Im more of a doom/sludge guy but i go to high on fire most of the time for faster stuff.

I have seen Slayer live twice, I also prefer Slayer to Metallica.

Went to a Slayer concert when I was fifteen.

Scared me to death.

Not so much the show,

But the people.

They were out of control.

Their fans are wild.

Reminded me of Metalocalypse.

I have seen both live and I think Slayer were marginally better but the venue was cooler.

I have only seen Metallica at festivals

I’m a huge metalhead, so this may seem like blasphemy, but I don’t like Slayer save a couple songs. I think they pulled of their gimmicks well, but as far as their music goes, I’m not a huge fan, and this is coming from a guy whose favorite genre is thrash metal. I just think Metallica had better songwriting, lyrics, and instrument playing, along with being more progressive as time went on. Slayer may have a better stage presence, but to me that’s secondary to having good music. In fact, Slayer may be my least favorite of the Big Four along with Anthrax, but even Anthrax had a good album. My favorite thrash bands are Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Havok, Vektor, Warbringer, Exmortus, and Power Trip.
