Zelda was Scott Fitzgerald’s wife
and she had schizophrenia
I read a bio book on her life story
she wanted to be a writer too
but he thought she was ripping him off
Scott’s bread and butter was his stories, or short fiction,
not his novels, and he paid dearly for her hospital stays
she was using a method of having a drill sargent over you
extreme exercise, diet, and routine or everything on a schedule
back in the day the two of them lived a lavish lifestyle
they were one of the most popular couples of their time
her writing is hard to follow, a lot is word salad, but she kept doing it
she was doing better and went to live with her mother for some reason
Paul was a big fan, and he got in touch with her and came to visit
it was an early spring day, but warm, and Zelda wore a heavy, long thick coat
as they went walking downtown. They came upon two school girls walking by them
and the one girl said to other, “That’s that crazy woman I was telling you about.”
Zelda heard it, and said to Paul, “I’m not feeling well, I want to go home.”
She went back into the hospital, and there was a fire, and she died.
She told her mother upon leaving that she wasn’t afraid of death,
too eery that she almost predicted it.
