I plugged my vape into my computer and

Now my computer says I have no internet connection but I do. It only took a short while to charge the device via USB-C. When I try to disconnect and reconnect a prompt shows up to sign in to use this wireless provider. I clicked the link and it takes me to a microsoft or msn homepage.
Any idea what’s going on? Or is it just a coincidence I just unplugged my new vape.

Sounds like out of date USB Drivers. I wouldnt worry about it.

You should never use your computer to charge a device for any reason. It is a great way to damage the mainboard. Buy a charger.

Okay thanks, good to know. I only did it because they recommended a computer or a 500ma power supply only, which I don’t think I have.

Just look for a power block that supports fast charging. They are like $15 now for a good one on Amazon.

This may be a stupid question but my laptop has a lightning bolt next to the usb, I guess that means it’s fast charging. Is it still a bad idea?

No, that means it is USB C and can sustain high data transfer rates. While it may technically support higher amperage charging, it is a very bad idea and should never be done. Do not charge something using a $1,000 charger when you can do the same with a $10 charger.

I use a powered usb multiport for comp and other things. I think thats okay cuz it has its own separate power source.

It’s okay to plug into the external hub’s charging port because it is designed to power and charge devices without straining the mobo.
