Ive started two businesses. One was just freelance and i was only 17 and i didnt exactly get to quit my day job. The other was successful but i relapsed and closed it down.

The business that failed was IT. It is totally possible with minimal skill to make extra money each month doing this. But i say its not worth the investment in learning skills and all the driving and time spent in clients houses.

The business that was successful was lawn, garden and landscaping. I specialized in lawn care but did some landscaping and garden jobs for flat rate charges too. In lawn care you can charge easily 50 bucks to cut someones lawn on a weekly basis, so 200 bucks a client per month. My first month with only $200 in advertising yielded 12 recurring clients and roughly 2k in income (not amazeballs but better than nothing!) All you need is a cheap truck and a few hundred bucks into a good self propelled lawn mower and weed whacker. I had a truck already and spent about $1000 for the equipment and first months expenses.

Its really a great business to get into, its harder to fail than succeed in lawn care, clients are everywhere in the biz. And i think its great work for schizophrenics because its physical and develops business skills at a gradual pace with little knowledge needed to get started.

I decided not to get back into it this year as im going to try to get into freelance bookkeeping which i would also say is a good option for a small business as you can easily work from home.

Best of luck @anon39015889! I hope you venture into the self employment world and are prosperous! I believe in you!

Some of that stuff is expensive but there doesn’t seem to be much on the market either.

I had a business selling performance auto parts on eBay.
It was really easy, just make ads with photos and product details, wait for sale and place the order.
I sold a lot of stuff and everything was drop shipped from the distributor.
The only reason I had to stop was that I couldn’t sell enough when the minimum buy in was raised.

I, myself would takeover an existing successful business that has been in operations for more than 10 years. The firm would be a sole proprietorship and in the electronics merchandise retail sales industry. This specialty store is unique in that a brick and mortar is needed to demonstrate the goods. Online e-commerce is insufficent for this type of retailing. This business sells in low volume but high priced products.

If I could get financing I would like to open up a cellphone shop in my town. There’s only one here so not much competition

Wing stop lol. I love me some wings.
