My husband and I have been invited to a neighbor’s house tonight. We don’t know them yet though so I’m extremely nervous.
The closer it gets to time to go, the more nervous I am. I want to make a good impression but I’m very awkward.
My husband needs friends so I can’t mess this up.

aw breaking the ice with them should be fun…when I’m nervous about something social I just tell myself…“just try to have fun”.
I find that wearing sunglasses helps me relax when meeting new people. In summer at least.
I don’t have eye issues (except strabism) but I sometimes consider wearing glasses just to tone down my social anxiety.

I hope it went ok and that you enjoyed yourself. I know how you feel though. It’s hard to socialize and especially with new people.
@Lickety-split , Well, it turns out most of the people smoked cigarettes and weed. So the majority was in the garage.
My husband and I were with 3 people in the house. At first no one talked.
But then eventually we started talking and got to know each other and have a great time! Yay!
So the awkward beginning turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
We don’t have a problem with people who smoke or ingest THC. But my husband can lose his workman’s comp. If he tests positive and they’re already trying to get rid of him.
Awesome. Good for you @LilyoftheValley. It’s wonderful to make new friends and very much a blessing when they’re right in your neighborhood.
Yup! I’m so glad we didn’t leave after realizing the majority was smoking all night. They’re not bad people just because they smoke. We just can’t partake. And the people inside were like us and were very fun to talk to

It’s no big deal. I’m quite easy going so I didn’t get upset, I just felt awkward until those of us inside got to talking.
