I’m so confused

I’ve been dealing with hallucinations and voices since I was around 10. I didn’t realize anything was wrong until pretty recently. My mom thinks I might have schizophrenia, which really scares me. I’m worried about the future, about what might happen to me. Is this really schizophrenia, or could it be something else?

You have a broken leg you go and get it sorted. You have problems with your brain and it’s common you do anything but.

It’s all about function. If your hearing voices that isn’t normal. It can stop you living properly and it’s something you need to address.

The news is though. If it is schizophrenia, then early intervention with the appropriate medication leads to better outcomes. You need to see a doctor and get a referral to a psychiatrist.

Thank you, I’ve fought my mom on this for a while but I know I need help. But I’m so scared. I don’t know what I’m afraid of exactly, I just feel like getting help is a really bad idea.

Get help. The sooner the better. Don’t be afraid of it. It can only help.

The hallucinating is a pretty good indication. See a mental health professional and see what he or she says.

A psychologist or psychiatrist can help put you in the right direction. Also I recommend trying to learn reality testing.
