I’m going to start taking my dog with me to church

I’m really nervous about this but I think my service dog Julia is ready. I asked the head pastor last night if it would be okay to take her with me. He told me it was fine, just to sit in the back ADA seating to make it easier for us so people don’t keep walking by. Next Wednesday service is the first night I’m going to take her. Having a service dog has been a life changing experience for my psychosis and cardiac condition.
Here’s a photo of my Julia at Target with me.

I’ve thought about taking my dog on a trial run at wal mart. You see dogs in there all the time. Do you think anyone would actually try to verify they were a service dog? IDK

I’m glad your service dog has had a positive impact on your life. And good luck with taking her to your new venue.

My dog isn’t a service dog, she’s just an emotional support animal, but I’m allowed to take her in to my church, my primary care provider’s office, and my therapist. They all have given me permission cuz they know she helps me, but she’s much too shy to be trained as a service dog, she doesn’t like new situations.

My clubhouse allows service dogs as well, & i haven’t seen a service dog with anyone at my church before but there are laws here that permit them i am sure.

My Mum had some trouble after she was asked to leave a cafe while she had her guide dog and it went to court, my Mum only wanted an apology but the other person was stubborn & was using her dog allergy as an excuse. My Mum won the case, but she hasn’t got a guide dog now though.

Please don’t bring your pet into non pet friendly places. Walmart is not pet friendly but people break the law all the time by bringing their pets in. It makes it harder to access when a legitimate service dog comes in because of aggressive/shy/fearful pets. I’ve witnessed a dog fight break out in Walmart. Pets being brought in to Walmart has prevented me from being able to shop safely with my service dog. In fact I stopped bringing her to Walmart because it’s such a huge issue.

Ok, Hanna_Fox  . It was more a thought than an actual plan of action.

I’m pretty sure all these people in wal mart with dogs are not legit either. I think its unlikely that that many people have service dogs. I see them all the time though.

My dog is registered as a service dog with my state. ADA law allows your service dog anywhere, as long as they are trained to support you but also trained not to bark and cause problems in public spaces…

So you can take them, and the law prohibits them from making you show proof. but if your dog gets out of hand, even a service dog can asked to be excused.
