I hope i can still drive

I never knew i had to report to the mvc that i had schizophrenia. They need a letter from pdoc with my condition and meds i take. I told her to put that i drive at the day time and never at night because i take sedatives at night. I only drive short distances to the store, gym and doctors visit i told her to put that in the letter. I hope i can still drive. What are they looking for. They say need to do a medical review if im fit to drive.

They did the same with me. I told them I’m schizoaffective and they did a medical review. I have to pay a hundred dollars to get my DL back. Idk about your state but you probably will get it back. Just follow their instructions. Hugs

WHAT! i cant believe it, i hope i dont have to pay 100 dollars, why did you have to pay hundred dollars to get your license back, it doenst make sense. Seriously 100 dollars.

Did you have to answer questions?

A few. I’m in Texas. It’s just the way they do things. I thought for a while I wasn’t going to get it back but they sent me a letter. Don’t worry.

I didn’t think that my parents did a lot for me, a schizophrenic who needed some help sometimes. But when I would get stuck on some paperwork now and again, they encouraged me to answer in the way that would get me the most freedom.

I started driving at age 17. Became schizophrenic at age 19 and quit driving until I was about 24. I won’t go into every detail but I’ve now been driving steadily since 1997. I’ve had to go to the DMV multiple times, several times to renew my license. I didn’t lie on any forms but
the DMV has never asked if I have a mental illness. I’ve been driving all these years and I guess they don’t know.

There was one incident where I was driving from my volunteer job with this guy from my group home.

A cop pulled me over and everything was going fine and he just let me off with a warning. The cop was walking back to his car and the guy with me just started laughing loudly and uncontrollably.

I was trying to get hm to shut up but the cop came back and somehow it came out that we were both mentally ill and on medication. The cop told us it was OK but all he said about it before he left was that If we ever drive erratically because of too much medication he could give me a ticket for DUI.
