In my state we say “making groceries.” It is from the French term faire.

Real food or crap food that’s the question? Never go grocery shopping on a empty stomach you end up with all sort of crap food in the end.

I will also add, before going to the shop, make a list of things you need.
And shop according to the list.
This way you will not buy redundant stuff.

I check for discounts on circular.

I rarely buy something that’s not on sale.

Shop sales.

Buy generic or store brand items.

On a lot of products you are just paying for the name on the jar, bottle, label, can, etc. Example: Safeway Supermarket in California carries their own line of items. You can buy a can of Dell Monte corn for $2.00 (estimate) or you can buy a Safeway store brand and pay $1.33 (estimate). Or a jar of Jiffy Peanut butter for $4.00 (estimate) or buy Safeway peanut butter for $2.99 (estimate). Safeway’s own line of food is just as good in quality and taste as most famous brand names.
