I have bad anxiety today

I took a really long walk, we’re talking like 4-5km, and it got rid of the restlessness, but it has resulted in me being more or less frozen with fear.

I need to be curled up as tight as possible, legs pressed against my stomach and covered by a heavy blanket.
Doing that has helped keep me from going into full panic, at least.

I also sat in my toilet room for a while. It’s the size of a broom closet and there’s just a toilet. Small spaces sometimes help.

Is there anything else I can do to reduce the anxiety, aside from taking a buttload of seroquel?

I don’t really have any advice. Just wanted to wish better days. Sorry you are dealing with this.

When was the last time you drank water, ate a vegetable/fruit/anything, sat in the sunlight, or took a vitamin?

Sometimes, when I have crushing symptoms out of nowhere, it is because I have3m’t dont these things in too long.

Some things I do to calm down are:

Put an ice pack on the back of your head. This will cool down your brain and reduce activity in your limbic system, where emotions happen.

Do a task with simple, clear steps. I like baking. I follow the recipe, and it’s easy enough that I don’t get frustrated, but it requires enough concentration that I don’t have room to think about other things. Cleaning also helps.

Engage your five senses. This will remind you what is real and what isn’t. Listen to soothing music. Smell something pleasant, like an essential oil. Suck on a hard candy. Look at pictures of things you enjoy. Feel something with an interesting texture, like a piece of Velcro or a stress ball.

Try to levitate something with your mind. You obviously won’t succeed, but it gets you to focus all of your attention on a single point outside your body, instead of on your thoughts. I like to use this on airplanes or in public places, because it doesn’t require you to move at all. It looks like you’re just daydreaming to observers.

Stuffed animals / plush toys give me comfort!! Do you have any of those?? Do they help you, when you hug them really tight? I find the soft & squishy plush toys to be best at soothing bad feelings.

(hug) :green_heart:

Oh, if you don’t have a plush toy, maybe a squishy pillow would help?? To hug tightly against your chest?

Hey all, thanks for the well wishes, and I’m sorry I didn’t reply.

I ate some food and hugged my plushie, and then went for a short walk with a friend.
I’m still a teensy bit anxiois today, but better.

I use essential oils when I’m anxious. Some scents have a soothing effect. Also, try to avoid coffee.
