Serious help

Ive been havin serious anxiety! I dont know what causes it but it literally feels like im goin to pass out and die…its really scary and uncomfortable and i have no way to cope, im on meds, a every 8 hrs and a take as needed, both for anxiety, but its been an hour and i still feel like crud! Please advice is strongly needed!

Some things I do to calm down are:

Put an ice pack on the back of your head. This will cool down your brain and reduce activity in your limbic system, where emotions happen.

Do a task with simple, clear steps. I like baking. I follow the recipe, and it’s easy enough that I don’t get frustrated, but it requires enough concentration that I don’t have room to think about other things. Cleaning also helps.

Engage your five senses. This will remind you what is real and what isn’t. Listen to soothing music. Smell something pleasant, like an essential oil. Suck on a hard candy. Look at pictures of things you enjoy. Feel something with an interesting texture, like a piece of Velcro or a stress ball.

Try to levitate something with your mind. You obviously won’t succeed, but it gets you to focus all of your attention on a single point outside your body, instead of on your thoughts. I like to use this on airplanes or in public places, because it doesn’t require you to move at all. It looks like you’re just daydreaming to observers.

Oh boy, this is tricky.

Anxiety is pretty much a brain inflammation problem, so you have to do things that reduce it. Diet is a big trigger, as is emotional stress and trauma. Avoid dairy and wheat, high sugar and fatty foods (pretty much any junk food, and soda.) Try to eat unprocessed foods as much as possible, trending towards raw. That does a lot to reduce brain inflammation.

If you can’t do anything else, text 741741 and say you’re having a panic attack. A trained volunteer will help walk you through coping exercises.

A task with clear steps is a great idea. If you choose baking then you get comfort food at the end too!

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Anxiety is terrible but I feel like posting here means you’re reaching out for help. That’s a great step. You can figure this out!

You’re really sure of all this? What does your pdoc say?

Hope things get better for you itsme wish I had some useful advice, avoid caffeine I’d say. Stuff like that

I’ve made a thread about it, here:

https://forum.schizophrenia.com/t/the-brain-inflammation-theory-of-schizophrenia/185248

It’s not the conventionally taught cause for schizophrenia, since they tend to focus on the chemical imbalance side-effect of inflammation.

Oh ok thanks. The way you said it sounded like it was a definitive cause of sz and anxiety.
