Like, maybe once a month. I’m 25, and my teeth look like a 50 year old smoker’s teeth. It’s bad. Also, I drink coffee and smoke cigarettes. Am I screwed already?
Nope. There’s worse things than not brushing your teeth. Or having bad teeth. But I would start it some time soon. And visit a dentist. No need to make it worse. I believe there’s a lot that can be done, still. II know how hard it is to remember though…
It’s just that the enamel looks worn on them. I had good teeth all my life. And took them for granted. Even if I get them back to being white, isn’t the erosion permanent?
I try to brush my teeth and I use my dogs as an extra piece of motivation, if they don’t want a smooch I go ooh bad breath gotta brush em.
I’m not really sure how bad it is, or what can be done. Sorry your illness caused that for you. I’d call a dentist right away and ask for their advice. I thought they could do a lot nowadays, like put layers on top or whatever…at least until a certain point…no clue though…
ur gonna be more screwed if u don’t start brushing ur teeth and go to the dentist. U likely have cavities and the longer u wait to get em fixed, the worse they get, then u need crowns, then if its past that u need root canals, then if its past that u need dentures
I didnt brush my teeth for a while when i thought brushing teeth caused cavities. Had to get 12 fillings, 2 crowns, and one extraction. It really sucked.
my teeth don’t hurt though. Well, my gums bleed after I brush them. They bleed a lot actually.
I sure hope I don’t have cavities.
Well, you might be screwed but you can stop your teeth from getting worse if you act now. Start going to the dentist and get regular cleanings and brush at least twice a day-it takes less than two minutes to brush your teeth and I’m sure you can take two minutes out of your day in the morning and at night to brush.
Yes, there’s worse things than not brushing your teeth but you know what worse than having yellow teeth? Having cavities and needing root canals. If you start having major problems with your teeth you’ll suddenly find out how important teeth are, when your teeth hurt so bad that you can’t think of much else but the pain and uncomfortableness.
One think I’ve observed is most people take their health for granted until they don’t have it anymore.
My teeth that needed work didn’t hurt either…and i still needed a lot of work.
dang… my last dentist visit was like 3 years ago. And my teeth were perfect then.
Well, even back in the day, I had bad teeth brushing habits. (taking teeth and my health for granted).
They can go down hill fast if ur not brushing em…get it checked with a dentist. Maybe u will be lucky with strong enamel and can turn it around and just start brushing and wont need lots of dental work. Either way tho u should start brushing, at least once a day to slow the damage. I brush for about 30 sec at night but its better than nothing.
Well. Call the dentist right now, or tomorrow, depending on the time.
And maybe make some kind of remembering ritual. A habit tracker in your phone. Or putting your toothbrush in a very visible place.
It’s a motivation thing. Don’t care about my health. But it’s only starting to bother me for cosmetic reasons.
I understand…there’s probably a deeper reason. That will take more time to fix.
But you can do some kind of quick fix now. You do not want to go the route that @77nick77 said. That’s going to hurt. A lot. Better fix it now. It’s not a big hassle, not the same as working out for an hour. For me, it is more a memory thing. So I put my toothbrush in a (weird but) highly visible place, so that I see it all the time.
I will try to find it in me to call the dentist some time this week. Also, I hate going outside and dealing with humans. But it’s whatever. If I’m gonna be schizo, I might as well look good doing it.
Hmmm…good luck. Maybe let us know when you called him/her. That’s kind of a… we call it a “stick behind the door”…not sure about the English version of that… like…something external that encourages you to do it.
Let us know here, whether you called.
Thank-you, I will try to use your encouragement to motivate me.
Brushing your teeth is good for your mental health. I think bad gums and teeth cause poisonous grwoth which fumes into the brain and exacerbates it. Personally at least. Im not a dr nor medically trained obviously.
I try to brush my teeth as often as possible because of the above logic.
