They asked me twice if I knew what the salary was. And it’s not a great salary so I’m guessing that’s why. Plus it’s a disability charity. You’d think they want to bridge the gap of what people earn that have disabilities. I came out feeling unsure. If I get through to second stage. Then I’m not sure I’ll go through it.
What kind of job is it? What will you be doing? I would just do it for a while if I liked it and then start applying elsewhere after a while
its in admin. I used to earn £16 an hour this will be paying £12 is it worth it? well I thought it would be a great step back into work but its a lot of work they’re asking me to do for that wage… they want me to do a presentation if I get through the interview.
Why a presentation? That’s a lot lower but it can be a stepping stone.
its part of the hiring process ![]()
Salary is damn important but not the only aspect to consider.
Less commute time, work hours, flexibility (work from home, less strict schedule), other benefits (number of days off in a year, meal tickets, medical insurance), work environment (friendly colleagues, light workload), personal development (learning or practicing things that interest you) - all of these can be potential advantages you may want to consider.
It’s true @andrey it’s actually probably not that convenient for me. Luckily I have free travel
Minimum wage is better than no wage.
It is but I do feel my experience is worth more than £12
Probably the hourly rate. Is it net or gross income?
If gross, then how much after taxes?
id be taking home roughly 20, 000 a year
I was taking home 30,000 pro rata
I see. Well it’s your decision, but if you get to keep your disability AND have a job, no matter how poorly remunerated, I’d say go for it.
Besides, taking this job now doesn’t mean you must stop looking for better options.
Thats true. I haven’t heard back from them but if I do hear positive news then I will need time to think it though … I’ll get to keep the pip though.
Moving to School and Work.
Looks like I didn’t get it. Have not heard anything.
Don’t lose hope. I know the job market is tough at the moment and it’s easy to feel discouraged by it all. Keep your head up, a rejection is just a redirection!
