I told her I could make her meals that would cost a lot less. She chose to move out and go back to her dads. I’m sad, but I needed to say something. We went through all our savings feeding her. Her groceries are $1000/month. It’s just too much for my husband and I to afford as we’re both disabled. Sad. Very sad. But necessary
Her dad is not going to want to pay a grand a month for meals (one person) either.
She’s going to have to get a job or make some adjustments.
Well, I’m glad you took a stand. She didn’t appreciate you.
A $1000 a month for groceries for just her? If she can’t see how wrong and outrageous that is what does that say about her judgement in general?
She didn’t know the cost in her defense. She would just give me a list of everything she wanted. I said something before but I don’t think I made it clear enough. @77nick77
She’s looking for a job, but no one has hired her yet. I hope she gets one soon
Wow $1000 a month is a lot of money!
Good thing you had a talk with her.
1000$ is too much. You’re not a millionaire.
I didn’t mean to come down hard on either of you but you’re kind of contributing to the grocery problem if you just buy everything she wants indiscriminately. If she stays, then maybe sit down before you go shopping and make a list of things to get that are reasonably priced and not a lot of extras and high priced foods.
Wow I spend 600 every month and I only eat delivery stuff
I eat 25¢ noodles mixed with tofu. Tofu is cheap. I get carbs and protein.
It’s ok. I accept responsibility too. I just wanted to make her happy. But I can’t do it anymore. My savings are gone. She’s going to stay at her dads. He’s wealthy
I live in Switzerland which is the most expensiv country in the world
tell her to eat pasta and rice, thats very vegan.
Holy crap! What is that girl eating?
Holy ■■■■! Me, my ex husband, my daughter and toddler ate on no more than $400/month. Tell your daughter no more caviar. No more escargot
She’s vegan and is eating prepackaged foods along with healthy foods. She’s trying to gain weight and has been eating 4000 calories a day
I ran into a situation when I was young. I was causing trouble and my parents had to put their foot down and put themselves first, because if I would have caused trouble between them and dragged them down than how would they be able to help me?
Someone had to be in charge and be the voice of reason and at the time it sure wasn’t me. Hindsight is twenty-twenty but you put yourself in a position where you blew through your savings and couldn’t help yourself and thus you couldn’t help her.
I’m guessing she doesn’t eat too much Ramen.
I’m pretty sure I get by on half that, and I eat too much in my opinion.
Yonkers! A grand a month!? I’m so sorry she’s moving out, but thats just too much. Its expensive eating the prepackaged vegan meals. Ive been trying to eat more plant focused and noticed how pricey it can be.
I went to get a vegan burrito the other day at the store in the frozen section and it was like 3 or 4 dollars for a single frozen burrito! I decided to get the stuff to make my own veggie burritos and for 8 dollars I could make more than 7 or 8 veggie burritos, no fillers, and a heck of a lot tastier. I could also control the macros amd calories I wanted to add.
I guess what Im recommending is to ask if she’d be willing to get involved with her cooking and make more of it herself? Its cheaper, healthier, and even when trying to put on weight can be more effective.
