I got an apartment

I signed for a new apartment this morning but the key doesn’t work. I have movers moving my stuff over tomorrow afternoon so I hope they can fix the lock by then.

That’s awesome!

I’d love to have my own apartment, but I can’t afford it :grimacing:

Having your own space is the best.

I can only afford it because it’s HRA housing.

I agree. It’s a small apartment but that’s ok.

100%. I’m not totally sure if I can even live on my own, but I’d love to be able to try

I called the Social Security Administration and told them to call me but they haven’t yet. I might have to go down there.

Thanks @HollyHobbie

I plan on living there for at least the next five years, maybe longer. It depends when my dog dies and if I’ll be able to work and get another apartment.

I like it so far. It’s a small apartment but I don’t need lots of space.

That’s great news. I don’t think I’ll ever have an apartment. The waiting list is too long. I applied, but don’t know if I’m even on the list still for supportive housing. I don’t think I could live alone and be happy. I would struggle.

That sucks. I’ve been waiting since October so not that long.

Well, congrats anyways.

I don’t think I could do it: live alone. I need social contact and family are best right now for me.

I think veterans, the elderly, etc. get priority here in California. I’ve been on the list for several years and haven’t heard anything at all. I can’t even get a status right now.

I heard the waitlist can be years where I live and they sometimes shut down the waitlist. I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes 10-20 years to get a place where I live. A lot of homelessness in California now. Shortages in apartments and housing.

Ya, I lived and slept at missions on skid row in downtown LA before and there were a lot of homeless people on skid row.

Well it’s good you have your own place now. I’ve never been homeless. I guess I’m lucky. It’s great that you’re doing better now.
