My apartment is nice. It’s not big, but it’s big enough. It isn’t brand new or luxurious but it’s clean and everything functions properly. It’s way better than the board & care home I was in last year. If the jerk who lives upstairs would move out this place would be perfect. Just one year ago I was sharing a small room with a veteran who had been homeless. He wasn’t a bad roommate but now I love having my own room much more.
That sounds like Bliss.
Good for you, Nick!

Sometimes. It gets really quiet and peaceful many times of the day. Compared to the board & care home it’s bliss for sure, though living downtown got interesting in many ways.
Good for you @77nick77. I could see myself living in this apartment where I’m at for a long, long time too. I am very happy here. And I love living alone. I live alone here too. We have a lot of long time residents here at this apartment complex.
I live alone, have for over 30 years, when I retire I hope to move into a one room studeo apartment
Terrible pic but this is where my kiddos and i live. We won’t be able to live here much longer. It is home. I’ll miss it.
Can you put yourself on a waiting list? My old therapist (actually, she was young and hot) gave me to leads to some housing. The wait for one was supposed to be a year or to. The other one was nicer but when I put my name on the waiting list they told me it would be five years.
I put my name down and just kept living my life, not really counting on those two becoming open and forgetting about it most of the time. So I kept working and moving around and I was l renting a room in a families house for 4 months and I got a letter one day saying that the nice studio was open and did I want it. It had only been four years instead of five and I jumped at the chance and moved in. It was relatively cheap and spotless inside. I moved in and I lived there about 6 years. But putting yourself on a waiting list doesn’t hurt. Like I said, I didn’t count on it being open but when the time came I got the studio.
The waiting lists are so long and you have to qualify. as I’m still working I don’t qualify

as I’m still working I don’t qualify

Not for any of them?
Nope. I have to be non working or on disability, even with disability I have to use up any assets (sell them) and that money goes against me, basically they want you bankrupt before they give you any money
I love where I live too. Recently moved into a 2 bedroom unit overlooking a lake. It is so peaceful sitting on the balcony with a hot cup of coffee. Glad to hear your moving up in the world.
I don’t want to beat a dead horse, but you can’t even just get on the list?
Because things may be different in the future and you may qualify in 2,3, 5 years. They won’t even let you put your name down now? You may not be working in five years.
Good idea, Nick. If one comes to the top of the list, he could not act other than to get on the bottom of the list again.
