Because we both go to the same clinic and we both had appointments at 11:00 am this morning. They are actually the clinic that got us this apartment. So we’re driving along and he starts bragging. He says, “Nick, did you have a bunch of girlfriends in high school?” I told him “no” , I was not very good looking and I was quiet.
I said, " How about you?" And he starts bragging, “Yeah, I had girlfriends, I have kids all over the place.”
I said, “That’s not something to be proud of tbat’s something to be ashamed of. I asked him, " How many of those kids did you support?” And that shut him up and he stopped bragging.
It was interesting because I didn’t know if he was going to get mad and possibly violent or how he was going to react. But there was silence and in a few miles more we started talking again. That little interaction was satisfying as hell.
But I like giving people rides. People do stuff for me all the time and treat me fairly well and I remember how great it is to get a ride when you are used to taking the bus. So I give co-workers rides, I gave the neighbor lady a ride once and once when I first moved in, the twenty year old kid in the house next door asked for a ride and I said sure, why not?
People on here have asked why I don’t get some kind if job where I can help people in real life. I just kind of shrugged it off and said I didn’t know. But now I am thinking about it. I would like to help people. It would be a good way of giving back.
