gained most of it on abilify but gained about another 6 pounds in the past week or 2. i was 135 now im 153. IM GOING ON A 1 MONTH LIQUID DIET, 1000 calories-1100. Im gonna have a whey protein shake, and 2 boost shakes a day. Plus coffee. I hate weighing this much, even my skin looks worse at this weight. It’s thrown off my hormones. I look like ive aged too.
I wonder if Abilify caused my weight gain too. Didn’t happen the initial year or two but have packed on the pounds since.
Don’t go on a crash diet. You’ll only gain back what you’ve lost.
Have you tried intermittent fasting or keto?
1000 calories a day is very low. Be careful.
Abilify is a sneaky little ■■■■■■ that will ■■■■ you if you let it. I’ve been dieting since before tgiving and I needed to or I’d keep gaining.
i’ll be careful not to gain it back. ive done low calorie diets all my life, its when i stop counting that the weight gain starts. im not gonna stop counting this time.
i have also done intermittent fasting a ton, it works for sure but i gotta keep the calories in check. at this point im binging so much i could prob gain while only eating a few hrs a day.
dont like keto. last time i did it i had no energy my blood sugar wouldnt go above 72.
You will lose weight on 1000 calories a day but it may slow you down a bit
i may go up to 1200. my tdee is only like 1600-1700. im only 5’4" so i cant eat much.
These extreme diets are SO HARD to maintain. Can you maybe work in some veggie meals at least? Look up Weight Watchers Zero Point veggie soups. Many are quite delicious, they’re satisfying, and they’re almost guilt-free. Roasted veggies are also filling and wonderful. Just trying to live on liquids is tough and you’ll probably fall off the wagon and binge when you’ve had too much of it and flip out.
yeah maybe. maybe i could do a whey shake, one boost, and soup for dinner. ill think about it. for me when things are extreme thats when i seem to do best at them. its like if the idea is simple, i can do it.
Are you able to work in some activity? It doesn’t have to be a lot, but it will give your metabolism a boost and get you burning more calories.
I agree with @shutterbug you have to think about caloric output as well.
yeah i should. ive been thinking about taking up jogging in place. maybe start at a couple minutes a day and work it up til i can jog 10 minutes straight.
i really do need to exercise. since the abilify and weight gain my heart health on my fitbit has dropped to its lowest level in like 6 years. its starting to worry me. im basically addicted to the internet and sit all day on the internet. my tailbone and SI joints hurt too
Look into an aerobics step:
They aren’t very expensive if you order them online and easily slipped under the furniture when not in use. There are tonnes of free short workouts of varying intensities on YouTube. It will strengthen your legs more than jogging in place.
Make sure you get the wide, club-style step like the one pictured. The small narrow ones are too unsteady and you’ll end up taking a bad tumble.
In just a few months I gained 7 kg approximately.
Probably because my boyfriend kept buying me chocolate and cake etc
He was like a feeder.
I couldn’t resist.
I joined weight watchers but couldn’t stick to it.
I love how weight watchers is set up but I can’t stick to it when I’m with my boyfriend as he likes to eat out sometimes and have fancy hearty homemade breakfast.
I can’t eat much with weight watchers because my 3-4 coffee a day takes up half my points.
I’m trying to eat less.
Had cabbage salad for dinner four days this week .
Having steak and chips tomorrow with gravy .
I try to walk half a hour most days.
I recommend weight watchers.
I love it!
If I was by myself or had a healthy man i could stick to it but as it is now I can’t get myself to stick to the points.
In 2018, I had ballooned up to 235 lbs and was diagnosed with diabetes. I’m only 5’4" and female. Back in 2007 or 08, I took Risperadal, then Abilify, both of which made me hungry even though they said the side-effects weren’t as bad as older drugs. I want to eat all the things! I’m now on 20 mg of Abilify. I can’t seem to find much motivation to eat better and exercise, though I did better this fall with eating, walking, cycling…but haven’t been on my stationary bike in days. I will have to force myself to do it.
I’ve lost almost 35 lbs thanks to Jardiance and Ozempic (got diabetes type 2 on top SZ). In 2021, I reached 188 lbs, but am now back to 202 lbs, mostly because bad things were going on earlier this year. I got very sad over AI tech companies stealing from artists and photographers. I also got sad about some world events that made the world seem scarier. I’m hoping to get down to 150 lbs again some day.
Anyways, I’d focus on life style, not crash diets. Every quickie diet I tried resulted in me gaining the weight back and sometimes more.
Adding on to ozy’s post about step aerobics, there is a great video I used to use. It is super outdated (think high cut bathing suits and a tropical setting complete with bird), but I found it was a really good workout. I bet you could get one on DVD pretty cheap. It was by a guy called Gilad. When I was starting out, just the warm-up was enough, then I was able to slowly do more of the video. I liked the corniness of the older dvd.
Kg? I was 148kg but now 102kg
pounds. 61kg to 69 kg
