I found my IQ is lower then 20 years ago

Used to have around 130,and now is barely 100…

I used to be about 130 also, now I am in the 120s. Try cardio, it improves blood flow to the brain and will increase your IQ.

IQ is just a number… there are a lot of factors involved with test taking and determining intelligence.

Humanity likes dichotomies it likes black and white, secondarily it’ll accept a linear spectrum… it gets that. The truth is there are uncountable ways the brain can be utilized and measured. IQ aint ■■■■… if you are good at what you do… that should be all you need. Beyond that I encourage you to just find peace… ITdoesn’t take any intelligence at all to just be content with the self, and entertain it… and forgetting the world and who you are in the face of it.

Yes,but I feel it inside like kind of disability …

what capacities inside have dwindled? do you have a job?

What was the benefit of your past intelligence level that you enjoyed most?

Sometimes I would like to call old friends, but I don’t like the look “he lost it”…

No,I don’t have a job,can’t focus…

I’ll be your friend mate…

if you want to talk to someone who isn’t going to judge cause I lost it too… it does help. This forum is an amazing place to hang and learn all the facets of the illness…

Thanks,I appreciate it.

I have no source or evidence to back this up, but I get them impression that the IQ’s of schizophrenics can vary. Sometimes I see very intelligent people regressing to where they are speaking “word salad”. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. You will probably recover your old IQ.

Hi, here’s a video that explains that people with schizophrenia perform 2.5 z-scores below the healthy controls, which translates to an IQ score of about 62. Fast forward to 5:32 mark.

I often wonder about the validity of IQ tests. Some people say that if it’s done by a psychologist it’s valid, but not the ones on the internet.

If you do IQ tests one after the other, you become more accostumed to the questions and the answers will be easier.

So, don’t get too hung up on IQ tests. On a good day I scored 135, on a bad day I scored 70…

Working memory training has been shown in research to increase fluid intelligence, specifically training it with the Dual n-Back task. The training is available for free at

http://www.soakyourhead.com/

and the research paper can be found at

Interesting @NutsAboutU but far too quick for me. Coordinating remembering when the box appears in the same location and when the same letter is said was very difficult.
I think if you have slow processing speed then like with a lot of these tests you will do badly…

This could be one explanation for the Flynn effect. Ie that nowadays we are better trained at doing such tests of intelligence.

As someone with a widely varying performance across areas measured by an IQ test, ie verbal(very superior) and spatial(borderline/below average), I am very sceptical about IQ test scores as a measure of general intelligence.

@firemonkey there’s a modified version of Dual n-Back task in the Lumosity suite of games, available for a subscription. The Lumosity version is call Memory Lane and has auditory ‘ding’ type rewards and goes a bit more slowly. The auditory ding rewards accelerate the learning process.

Note that even the university postgrads, who were the first subjects to be trained, found the game very uncomfortable to play. This is the normal reaction to the game. The researchers found that regular folks increased their performance by 1-back in 19 days and the university high-flyers only progressed by 2-back in 19 days. So don’t expect to progress quickly.

It may change in the future… That happened to me after I was initially hit hard by life

@shutterbug or @minnii or @rhubot could one of you do me a favor and delete my posts in this thread. I got way out of line and just ran off with it. It’s self centered and spiteful… I kind of deserve to have it left up there… but I truly do regret saying a lot of those things.

I did an iq test with a psychologist once…I scored 120. I think I was in the 97th percentile in the math portion. Who woulda thunk ? Math? I can’t do calculus or trigonometry or algebra etc. for ■■■■…but iq math I did really really well on… For some reason
