I know you guys get on my case a little about dwelling on my past, but forgetting too much made me naïve and easily made a victim of.

I get told I live in the past too much also. I don’t see you as living in the past as trying to deal with my past and heal from it. A good sign in my book that your trying to do it. But we are limited on the net and with our own experiences (i.e. we are not qualified) of what we can actually do to help.
You don’t really have to do anything when I vent. Reading me probably wears you out enough. I try to indicate in the title of my posts whether it is going to be troublesome or not to give you the option of avoiding it.
i can’t remember most of my past…it is behind a very dark door…lost in my murcky sub-concious.
