Internet has helped connect millions of people, for a sz person it can be scary though, no idea how many hours and days I spent looking for the site that was broadcasting everything I did live
for me psychosis was always like a bad trip, i just happened to be on the internet at the time so it involved social media and things which i was wary of for a while but am no longer
it wasnt just internet fueled ideas getting jumbled into a ominous doomsday themed revelation to me, it would have happened regardless, i was even seeing messages in the clothing people wore and on logos on packaging, just about everywhere
if i had lost touch with reality in the middle of the forest i suspect i would have tripped out over a sinister looking tree or something
The Internet is like the worldâs brain in real time. Itâs the ultimate technological extension of ourselves. It will put corrupt people under scrutiny and right a lot of wrongs that people and institutions used to get away with. It overrides propaganda, unites people, and most importantly, it gives us information.
Civilization could be destroyed by losing the Internet. The worldâs financial infrastructure depends on it, more and more devices are controlled by IoT, and large shared databases from government services to medical records power institutions with on-demand data.
IT security should be a primary focus to protect the world from cyber threats.
I agree @innercircle but wouldnât you say the internet has become a bit like the TV? I mean advertising on youtube. Google top searches being put to the top based on the highest bidder. Like where is that web page some guy made from html? Thatâs the site I want. The end of myspace marked the end of an Era. Now itâs people pushing their best selves on facebook. I would say the last frontier is twitter. But even then you say the wrong thing anyway and your ousted. Maybe itâs good though. Maybe it breeds a sort of accountability for people who have none.
There is good and bad. From someone in their late 20s Iâve seen its entire birth, development, and complete possession of many peopleâs souls. Now there is too much noise, too many untruths, too much news. Whatâs good about the Internet? Well, the Internet lets us fact check information in a way that we never could before. Misinformation has always been around us but 24/7 access to an incredible storehouse of information is something the Internet has given us for the first time.
It is not the amount of information but the dubious validity of that information. There is no accountability in posing information on the Internet. That together with the anonymity, makes any/all information of limited value if there has been no peer review.
