I’m a prisoner in my body. I have difficulty moving. This is hell. And when I stop binge eating I feel so unnerving and not normal. Its just torture what this disease? Medicine? Has done to moi.
I had to express that. Thanks for listening. I think by doing this it makes the whole situation more real and easier for me to change habits
You got this!
I am ill with severe schizophrenia, I don’t take medications, I exercise every day(sometimes more than once a day) and my physical fitness is fine and it keeps improving.
So, having schizophrenia, even a severe form of it doesn’t automatically make you fat and unfit.
Thank you @antidepressant044!
True. For me personally the medicine?the illness? has made me a food addict, and I can’t exercise the way I used to though.
So keeping fit is much more challenging. I just need to kick myself harder now cos it’s getting out of hand.
Yes I noticed that you exercise well…that is really great!
I’m sorry you’re feeling so trapped.
Its difficult to find the right motivation when it comes to exercise,
At least for me.
I think the medicine doesn’t help with that.
Since I’ve been on abilify I’ve found it harder to do my everyday walks.
You’re not alone in the struggle, @anon90843118,
Take it easy on yourself and take baby steps.
I don’t mean to put people off antipsychotics, they can do a good job with positive symptoms but yes some things may get challenging. Bayby steps it is. Thankyou @GoldenRex
When I was on olanzapine, I had a bad time because it made me fat (I gained 20kg). Changing medicine was crucial for me to lose weight.
Do you think you can change your medicine?
@GoldenRex With walking I find music helps if you don’t already do that.
Thanks for the tip @DelusionalSoldier. That’s good that the change worked for you.
I’m actually weaning off abilify at the moment under pdoc supervision.
I am considering going on a different antipsychotic if need to go back on antipsychotics in the future.
Which med are you on? I used to eat a lot on Abilify pills. The injection was okay
I’m on abilify pills.
I overeat because of depression. Food is comforting to me. I’m trying to curb my binge eating with a calorie-counting app. Have you tried something like that?
I’m not sure if I’m a fan of calorie counting tbh. I just feel like I need to listen to my body when it’s hungry and not eat just for that satisfaction feeling. I kind of feel like if I had more of a life then that would help cos that would make me feel good and so I don’t need to go to food for that so much. Sorry you are going through this too its so tough. Good luck with the app though different stuff works for different people! You can do it too
I have just about reached the point where I have no choice but to change my ways as eating the wrong foods trigger my arthritis and pain. I feel much better since I changed my diet recently to include more fruits and veggies. I also think the coming of Spring is helping too but there’s little doubt it’s making a difference. I have gotten so big that I no longer fit in some chairs and it’s difficult to put on a seatbelt. It is indeed not funny.
I’m with u on that it’s not a laughing matter.
I’m happy u could manage to change ur diet its not an easy step from my experience.
Yeah Abilify does that. The pills are awful. I switched to injection and my eating stopped.
So am I. If I don’t take one of these a day my appetite is substantially increased like yours.

Try them. Nothing to lose.
Thanks. Problem is I’m Really sensitive to supplements they make me really light headed. But thanks though!
