I’m also on aripiprazole (Aristab here in Brazil) and they made me lose weight. But it depends on each person. There are other medicines you can try: Geodon or Latuda for example. It’s not a very simple thing to do, but it’s necessary in order to feel well.

Ok. I’m gonna get volatile, sorry you guys. You are off of abilify so no more excuses to not take care of your weight. Health is ■■■■■■■ number one, and I know you are young but when you leave the shelterof being enabled by others with self-destructive behaviors, you’ll learn. You have a binge eating disorder so it’s up to you to fix it…no med will make you eat more. You have that choice. We all have those choices, it’s part of life. My dad blamed his weight gain on me and is dead due to heart problems. I’m not carrying that baggage with me…it’s a cop out. Yes meds make you feel like ■■■■, not do anything etc. as I’ve said I couldn’t move on latuda. So, I changed meds. It is your responsibility to say “no” I will eat healthy today or exercise…not the meds. I hate eating yet eat all the time. It’s because health number one. I hate avocados but force myself to eat them. It’s in your mind and “YOU” have the power to change. You know you have a problem and have asked for help so accept you might not be sz but you are mentally ill for binge eating. Don’t ever let your mind fool you. You’ve got this. You just have to dig DEEP!

I’m blaming meds or the disease or both though. As soon as I got ill n was put on abilify, I could not exercise how I used to n that is wat used to regulate my appetite. Just facts. I didnt have this binge problem before then.

Telling yourself that you have no choice won’t help. You can do something for yourself, even if it’s just looking on the internet for medications that can help you (and then talk to your doctor about them). I’m not telling that just medications will help you, but they still play an important role for you to lose weight.
You ALWAYS, no matter in which situation you find yourself, can do something for yourself.
