like the title says I feel pathetic since I have gotten sick, To come on here and people brag that they have completed college and are on their way to advanced degrees makes me feel pathetic. If I had just stayed in school I could be one of those people.
You’ve got to remember you don’t actually know these people. And schizophrenia along with medication is a lottery from what i’ve seen. I wouldn’t kick yourself over it.
As our beloved and smart @mortimermouse said once, compare only to yourself, never to others. Can you do a little better than you were a year, a month or a day ago? Can you make a few steps more than last time when you took a walk? ( talking figuratively)
No one gets up in the morning and say ’ OK let’s get some phD’s and earn few thousands of $$$’.
You are good enough to never give up from your better self.
I don’t feel anybody is bragging about anything on this site…just telling everyone what is going on in their lives.
And you shouldn’t compare yourself to others anyways. Each of us have varying degrees and are in different stages of this affliction.
You’re right, all of you are. I just feel sad because I can barely make myself clean my apartment and there are people out there earning advanced degrees. But once again you are right, I shouldn’t compare myself to them. They have a drive I couldn’t imagine.
Yep makes me feel bad that I can barely go to school when people in my support group are all in college and have jobs and one’s a resident doctor.
You have an illness that makes some people unable to use computers. But instead of thinking about it from the victim point of view, think about it as if you are a fighter, a survivor in the horrible circumstances, but still going and keeping it forward.
one step at time.
Oh, and have you read about that grandma that got her PhD when she was like 80something years old? : ) it is never to late.
I never got my degree and I’m a bit bitter about that. Like @seriouslydisturbed said, there’s an element of a lottery to this at times.
I’m envious of people who are in relationships at times, so you’re doing well in that side of things.
