I’ve been eating really unhealthy lately, and feel like I need to reset my digestion in some way with a water fast, or maybe just an oatmeal fast. I just need to get a grip on my lifestyle before I spiral out of control.
fasting is more difficult for me than it used to be. i usually fast once a year, in spring, what i think of as a spring cleaning. this spring i could only go 2 days without eating. i used to do a week long water fast. anyways good luck and be careful. eat if you feel like you need to.
Yeah I’ve done it several times, with the intentino of doing a month long fast, but that never got longer than a week before I devoured the nearest edible. I was younger then and trying to find a cure for all my problems. Now I know what ails me I’m just gonna do it a couple days to a week, and listen carefully to my body.
I’ve been bad at breaking the fast in the past, usually my go to foods are all the wrong ones heh.
same here…it seems i always break a fast with pizza.
I would recommend an easy sort of fast rather than say a 12 hour fast, or God forbid a fast longer than a day. Those are extremely dangerous especially for someone who is ill. A good fast is one full meal and two smaller meals or “snack-meals” it keeps one stable. Even the very first monks (who were way stronger than us modern people) recommended to eat at least something every day. You will find people on YouTube who claim to fast for 7 days etc and even try to make them look like spiritual fasts; they are not. Abstaining from food yet feeding on pride, anger, etc is not a fast, it’s destroying yourself. Like the desert fathers said if you find yourself becoming proud from fasting well than you better eat something quick!

Iunno if you’ll like this idea or not but why not just fast on plain food for a while? It’s probably a lot harder than one might think. Instead of giving up food al together, start with just giving up ketchup, maybe take half as much meat, maybe give up sugar in your coffee. It’ll clear your system and your mind! 
I can only last 24 hours.
You’re right, that’s what I’ll do. I was more airing my frustration with the way I’ve been eating lately, and my first impulse is to go to the most extreme solution. I’m going to go out tomorrow and pick up some rice and frozen vegetables. Maybe add some garlic powder and oil to that and that’ll be my diet most days. I’ll see how long I can go with that.
True true I hear you its so difficult to eat healthy lol my downfall is sour cream and onion chips :’(
Your idea with oats is really good too! I’m allergic to a lot of things and have some blood sugar problems and I’ve been researching a lot about health lately and they’re good for that. A friend of mine, she suggested oat bowls/bars with goodies mixed in
like walnuts, pb, rasisins, etc so good! Steel cut oats is the way to go health wise though cause they make you fuller longer and don’t peak your blood sugar
Oats are a fantastic filler for early in the day. I used to eat them all the time. I even sometimes make them into flour and make pancakes. But that won’t be a part of this diet.
Sometime i go on a food fast but allow myself coffee and tea along with ample water. Right now I’m cutting out beef and pork and adding veggies and fruit. But fasting.for a few days is actually very healthy.
