I was on food stamps like four years ago for about 9 months. I recently reapplyied and recieved my card in the mail today. The instructions this time around said I could use my card at the ATM to withdrawl money from it in the form of cash. Im shocked because that means those who are on it can use the money to pay rent,or buy cigarettes and alcohol or drugs. Thats a game changer for many and an enebaler mechanism for others. I plan to use one third of it on food and the other two thirds to build my savings account. My ssi already goes to my tuition and living expenses.

I wonder what prompted the change. We get food stamps for my stepdaughter because she can’t get free lunch at school now. We’re so grateful
