I am jealous for people with high IQ

I have things I’m excited about

It’s a good thing not many have high IQ, because most jobs don’t require it.

IQ doesen’t really matter. There is no correlation between high IQ and living a happy and fulfilling life as far as I know. I would much rather be happy than have a high IQ.

That’s great!

At your age I was learning computer science. It was very hard for me and I hated some classes, but I loved math and some of the coding assignments.
I also loved to watch anime and to read sci-fi.
I also went out with girls.
But I didn’t have any money.

Now I have some money but not the same energy :pensive: I’m 41.

Id rather be a bit higher than average than super intelligent. I find people with super high IQ tend to be lacking in other areas which is natural I think. You cant be everything. Id forfit some intelligence to be balanced in other areas. It’s kind of like having a higher max speed or acceleration but having poor handling

IQ can change over time either increasing or decreasing

I had a much higher IQ when I was younger, today it’s more in the average range.

I’ve experienced a considerable amount of cognitive decline as I aged

I think having the gift of the gab gives you more opportunities. If you can talk and communicate well lots more jobs you can get

There are a multitude of different intelligences

If we were all the same life would be boring!

My IQ was about 120 years ago and recently I scored 80….

But the type of intelligence I have is different to what some people value

On a personal level I quite agree with that.

With school age children it’s a better predictor of academic achievement than IQ.

I’m an example of this. I have a very high IQ, yet I’m a total idiot who works at a dollar store as a cashier.

I don’t understand how I test so high on IQ tests. I don’t know how I graduated #1 in my graduating class from the university.

I struggle with certain things, such as machines etc.

I’m not smart. I lack common sense. And I have no idea how I score so high on those standardized tests. I’ve been tested many times - in therapy, in high school, in college etc. It’s always a very high score. Yet I’m a total idiot.

Don’t put too much stock in IQ scores.

I’m very similar. I score very high, and yet I’m rather crap at the daily living tasks most people take in their stride. That’s ASD related rather than sz/sz-a related.

Your smart enough… Super smart people aren’t always happy

I tried two IQ tests on the internet. At the end they wanted to charge me for the results. One gave me 50 minutes to answer 100 multiple choice questions. I ran out of time before I could finish. It wanted a credit card number to charge for results. It did say that out of 1000 people I was smarter then 825 people or something. A lot of math questions and questions on noticing patterns. I think I am average with intelligence.

Me too, my dad scored a 160 on a IQ test in middle school, but he never put in much stock into it and did average at school because he never did homework. I believe that executive functioning, EQ, and conscientiousness is paramount to achieve success in life, and is just as imperative as IQ. Unfortunately for me, I don’t score high in any of those categories and am pretty stupid comparatively to others. But most people aren’t me, and are good at one or multiple of those facets of life, measurable by success.

Anyone who has used 'IQ" please define quotient without searching.

Apparently dumb people live happier lives. Intelligent people know the odds so they fret more and lead more stressful lives.
