Tardive dyskinesia. It happened when I started taking Abilify. Head movements.vshaking back and forth. I take benztropine with it. Anyone have td too?

No I don’t have TD but I worry about developing it all the time. I was on Abilify for a short while, I didn’t have any side effects, but it was ineffective and I became psychotic.
After being on AP’s for almost 20 years my eyelid on my right would twitch, it was subtle but very annoying. It was like that for a couple years then I stumbled across Glycine, 10 grams/day, and the twitching went away completely. I started taking the Glycine for sleep reasons, but once I started it the twitching went away so it was a total fluke that I stumbled across a solution to my eye twitching problem.
I was interested in this topic so I started a thread about it a while ago, just so I would be prepared if I develop it. There are some medications for TD listed in that thread.

I have cervical dystonia. I move my head back and forth. I sometimes tilt my head towards my shoulder. I have a head swaying motion, at times.
It’s no fun. It started on Invega Sustenna. Rexulti made it much worse. I currently take Latuda.

Roxanna it’s extremely important to let your pdoc know right away that this is happening. Abilify gave me td and it took a year to go away, or more.

I take Latuda too, that is the med ‘I suspect’ started my eye twitching problem I mentioned in my post above, but I am not 100% sure.

I always heard that if you catch it early, it can be reversed. Usually by getting off whatever medication caused it.

I’m disappointed because I thought abilify would help.j I could just give up. I’ve never had td so bad since fifteen years ago

He said I could go back to perphenazine if abilify doesn’t work.

I thought I would start having td, but luckilly it was just temporary jaw clenching. I think it was a reaction to haldol.
I’m biting my tongue and lips. It won’t stop.

You should change AP. I couldn’t sit still for a second while I was on abilify. Have you tried vraylar?

I haven’t taken vraylar yet. Do they have shots for it?
No I don’t think it comes as an injection.
I myself had side-effects on abilify but on vraylar I am fine. It’s worth a try, talk to your doc.

The td has stopped. I went back to perphenazine last night which was a relief. I’m still calling my pdoc today.
