How's your sense of humor?

My sister told me I am funny. In a good way. When I feel; comfortable with someone I will crack jokes or say funny things. It’s a part of me I lost for a few years. But now I enjoy making people laugh. On the other hand I can be real serious for many days in a row and I have got comments on it, especially at work. I can sit in a comedy club and not laugh once or smile but I am actually enjoying the show and find it funny.
In fact laughing about my disease with my dad was an actual turning point in my recovery when I was hospitalized for all those months. Just cracking up at some of the weird behaviur I saw was a needed relief. I don’t mean in a mean way but a couple of the patients, sick or not, deserved to be laughed at. Like the women who bitched at EVERYONE and then walked away flapping her arms like a big bird and then attacked someone. The person put her in a headlock.

My sense of humor has saved me from just offing myself. I had a teacher in high school who told me to keep a sense of humor. I had a bad night, I talked to myself until like 3 or 4am and ■■■■ was not okay, but Im doing my best to just understand it and keep a sense of humor about the whole madness thing.

After all, a schizophrenic psychology student is pretty hilarious. I mean it really is.

It’s kind of like a doctor who is also a hypochondriac!!!

More like a narcissistic, psychopathic, Machiavellian, schizophrenic traumatized young man trying to become a psychologist.

I think med students become hypochondriacs due to what they learn. I was already this messed up before I chose to study psychology.

Again, I have to keep a sense of humor at how ridiculous my life is. How ridiculous I am. It’s a joke, I can’t tell if it’s the best joke ever or the worst joke ever.

I still remember on the old forum you made a reply to my thread and the post was a joke from you but I comprehended the slang literally…I was totally embarrassed.

(my old username is ‘mentalhealth.my’)

What was the joke?

I can’t remember it precisely. Unless I have access to the old archived forum.

When I was Hypomanic for decades - even as a teen others thought I was funny - I always had a sense of warped humor.
I kind of lost my sense of humor through being medicated and by losing the chronic hypomania.
Hypomanic/Manic individuals can be very funny - think Robin Williams - RIP

In the book of birthdays my date April 16th is considered “the cosmic comic”. Charlie Chaplin was born on my birthday too. so I can believe that I am actually quite a funny guy. I love jokes and I joke around a lot to make people laugh. kind of a goof of sorts.

Yeah, now that you mention it, you’ve always seemed like you have a good sense of humor.

aww thanks @77nick77 I try to be funny when I can.

In my daily life + in response to myself I seem to have lost my sense of humor. However when I’m talking to my brother it pipes up in sort of an EEyore way. My brother doesn’t have a lot to say so I provide some entertainment. He appreciates it.

i have a good and pretty warped sense of humour. i love banter with either male or female friends. it’s generally silly, sarcastic, or flirtatious with both sexes. my friends know i’m only joking around with them, though these days i’m careful with strangers as they can take it the wrong way so i tend not to flirt with either sex if it’s a stranger. i just don’t feel it’s appropriate then. but once i get to know someone i love to laugh. my kids and i have great volleys, back and forth we go, and my husband and i did too. the kids have grown up with us ripping the ■■■■ out of each other in a humorous way.

I have got a lot to learn from you @77nick77 my sense of humor is very low,but I will be myself and add on to being humorous,as humorous people are well-liked and I want to be a person people enjoy being around too…it’s still a long way though, but I believe I will get there

I get a sense that both @77nick77 and @jukebox have a really good sense of humor - a great quality to have, especially when dealing with SZ

I’ve relied on my humor to get me through the day. There are a few things about getting through my day that does amuse me.

I’ve been feeling sort of flattened lately and I know my sense of humor takes a bit of a step back when this happens. I’m working on keeping my spirits up.

My sis uses my humor to measure how I’m doing.

I find myself to be hilarious. Others are disturbed by my jokes.

Laughing helps but sometimes things just aren’t funny

Give us can example, lol.

Well like the one I told on here. It was an ironic situation in which I wanted to commit suicide, but, I was too stressed to figure out how to do it! That to me is hilariously ironic… My doctor and you guys however, disapproved
