I know there was a post made about Latuda last year, but I feel like enough time has passed for me to make another one. Whoever’s on this currently or has taken it in the past, how is it/was it? I’m about to start, currently on 2mg Navane but it’s not doing much, just keeping me out of full psychosis and whenever I go up in the dose I get more negatives effects and basically no positives. Any input is appreciated
I am on latuda and have been approximately two years I think.
I recently increased my dose and sleep from around nine pm to eight thirty am.
I take it with dinner and get so tired immediately.
I can not stay awake.
I just cannot.
My bf usually puts a film on but I always have to go to bed in the middle of it so I never see the end of the movies.
I was on olanzapine before I changed to latuda.
Olanzapine seemed calming and good to me but did make me gain twenty three kg.
I tried coming off latuda s few months ago but went overwhelming intense hysteria and felt the angry ones in my body to a point I could not handle.
I was not coping but my bf and dr put me back on latuda and I got better really quickly then.
I was afraid of hospitalisation as I was not coping but it was not needed thankfully.
I lost ten kg of the twenty three I gained and was at that weight for some time.
Recently I lost another five kg but unfortunately put one of those kg back on.
I got jaw clenching from latuda so my dr prescribed Benz to take the jaw clenching away which it did.
I have had some very difficult moments and I do not seem as calm as I was in olanzapine perhaps but I am still doing well on latuda.
I still have some symptoms but not full blown psychosis where I can not do anything not even drink and eat etc.
I am pleased as I am able to assist my man ,care for our pets , clean, garden ,ride, get mail and do grocery shopping with my bf, sleep ,say hi to people but usually not say much and go mute etc, bake and cook , do dishes at home , manage hygiene, pay bills and manage finances well so bills get paid and food gets bought etc.
I do not work and have applied for disability pension .
I hope to get on pension and volunteer work at a place etc that is doable for me realistically.
I had a few moments where I felt I might need hospitalisation or to be taken care of till I get through it and my bf held my hand and put me to bed to sleep with sleeping tablet and fed me and that helped immensely so I rode through it and did not need hospitalisation thankfully.
Perhaps it is more activating or upbeat.
I believe it helps and trying to get off it did not go well.
I am pretty stable this moment with chores and activities I have to do etc.
I do not think I could handle work on top though unfortunately because it took me two years to get my care certificate .
Different meds work differently for different people .
If you get on it I wish you well.
Thankful for meds that work and help us.
I’ve been on Olanzipine as well, it was good except for the weight gain and tiredness which is why I stopped. I’m glad Latuda is doing well for you, that makes me feel hopeful about it.
Im on latuda. It has been the best med for me so far. Sedation and weight gain not a major problem. I switch between 80mg and 120mg. When on 80 i become unwell although no where near as bad as with nothing. So i have to go up to 120 and face a bit more sedation. Remember to take with at least 350 cals at night. Wish you lots of luck!
Nice, I’m looking forward to it. My doctor told me about the 350 cals thing, what happens if you take it on an empty stomach. Just nausea?
It doesnt get absorbed properly plus nausea
Ah okay.

When I was on Latuda I was angry all the time, but that could have been due to withdrawal from Geodon. I went back on Geodon because Geodon does me fine. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
Latuda was like water/sugar pill to me.
I’m on 80mg of latuda. It does well for me, it doesn’t make me as restless as i was on risperidone.
Latuda did not work well for me. It was one of the worst and I was pretty psychotic on it.
It made no difference to me. No better at all. Abilify seems to be working.
Some do well on it. Some do poorly. It varies with each person. I had a bad experience on it but it doesn’t mean you will.
I’ve been on Latuda 80 mg for about a year now. It gave me nausea and anxiety every night, then makes me fall asleep for about 12 hours. Nowadays the nausea and anxiety at night is wearing off since I started vitamin supplements, but I get mild anxiety and sleepiness during the day. It doesn’t cause weight gain and my mood is quite good as it’s an antidepressant. It doesn’t worsen my negative symptoms. It’s the best of the meds I’ve tried though some days it causes me to lie in bed with nausea. I’m usually able to do what I want in a day and be active without problems.
Give Vraylar a try. It took 6 years for me to find the “right” med.
It helps me with negatives and mood but I mostly take Geodon for psychosis.
I put on a bunch of weight with it (about 60 pounds) and had to get a prescription for viagra. Those are the only two real side effects I had from Latuda. I only take 40mg per night.
Overall it’s an effective med for me.
If Latuda doesn’t work I’ll give it a try.
