Withdrawal can be a tricky process. Do be careful with it if you so decide to discontinue use of your AP.
Yes itās exact 15151515151515
Sleep is probably the Key faktor coming off drugs like clozapine, olanzapine, risperidone, quetiapine and nozinan. So supplements for sleep is a good idea.
Does the medication affect your symptoms? As in reduce them?
I have no symptoms atm, so have been off meds for 5 months now. Doing just fine.
I donāt fully understand the purpose of aps if they donāt alleviate voices/hallucinations/paranoia.
If you can learn to live with full blown psychosis then you will never need an AP again. Warning; few can.
My doc withdrew me from invega into caplyta it was a six month process but pretty painless
My psychiatrists never gave me the advice to taper they would just say stop taking the medication but it wasnāt that effective. I would say if you decide to come off a medication you should see a dietician or nutritionist who can safely help you balance things like hormones, minerals and nutrients, underlying health conditions and I have only successfully gone from one anti-psychotic to another so far. Like RN I dont want to be on Abilify anymore because its all they ever give me and Im tired of only one that works I just want to get out of the system and due to poverty and lack of resources I feel like i never will.
I agree with a few of the other people here who say to come off as directed by your doctor and very slowly. I relapsed after tapering Olanzapine and personally Iām not sure I will come off APās again due to the risk of relapse, although Iām hoping to decrease my dosage eventually.
It does make me think about the difference between ātaking APās to keep me wellā and possible iatrogenic harm from APās that means I will not be able to live without them for the rest of my life. Sorry for the tangent.
