Do you feel the side effects worsen over time or get better over time??
what about the risk of tardive dyskineisa if antipsychotic is used longer period of time???
I’ve been on ap’s for over 20 years. It’s always about function vs dosage and side effects. I take as minimal dose as controls my symptoms and the side effects are another thing. They aren’t deal breakers for me and controlling my paranoia and positives are worth the price of admission.
I’ve been on antipsychotics for a little more than 10 years. I’ve dealt with all kind of side effects including tardive dyskinesia
I’ve only had schizophrenia symptoms for 6 years, but I was on Seroquel for about 6 years before that because my genius pdoc at the time thought it was a good idea to prescribe it for sleep. I think that was heavy handed now that I’ve researched APs… so in total I’ve been on them 12 years. No extrapyramidal side effectts so far (like dystonia, parkinsonism, tardive dyskinesia or the like).
I’ve consistently been on AP’s for 11 years. Before then it was on off on again for I don’t know how long.
On and off for over 22 years.
About 2 and a half years. They help with some things.

3 years now. Almost no side effects, except weight gain and sexual problems. But I don’t care
I’ve been on them I believe since 2015 so, 5 years. I was on a higher dose at the start with much more problems with sideffects like akathesia and the facial twitches and muscle stiffness I just got put on a much lower dose and started being able to think again and then I just deal with akathesia and drowsiness with medication. Weight gain I’m still tackling.
I have been on and off AP for 8 years. They were prescribed for sleep and anxiety and i didnt manage to get off without getting psychotic.
The side effects got worse and are most definitely not worth it. I would not have started if i knew what i was getting into. Should have dealt with the ptsd by therapy.
I hate how i just cant be myself anymore. Not on meds. But also not off meds because they made me psychotic and an emotional wreck underneath the AP.
On AP since 1999 so 20 years. Main side effects are weight gain and iatrogenic negative symptoms such as mild depression, avolition. Never forget that first AP (Thorazine/Chlorpromazine) was called “chemical lobotomy” by pdocs at that time.
Consistently since march 2012. So, just over 8 years. I’ve gained over 40 kgs over that period of time. For now, I’m stuck on them. I’ve tried to reduce them from 12 mg to 9 mg (Invega) last year, but I couldn’t cope. Back where we started on 12 mg.
I’ve been on APs for 26 years. A lot of that time is on the older meds. No TD or any other lasting side effects.
On and off since 2016

9 years but I stopped for a year. I gained 150lb on meds and now have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, taking Metformin to prevent diabetes.
1 year. 1151515

Four years then I stopped in 2007 then five years later 2012 I started again. Since then it’s been eight years I’ve been on AP’S again.
